  1. 1. HEALTHY EATING FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS
  2. 2. Many of you have heard of the “freshmen 15” For those of you that haven’t, it is the assumption that the first year of college, a young adult gains around 15 pounds and in some cases continues to gain weight through college.
  3. 3. WHY THE WEIGHT GAIN? ~Fast food and vending machines are super convenient. ~Packing a lunch takes too much time.
  4. 4. THE TRUTH… ~Grocery shopping is much cheaper than buying a lunch out each day. ~Setting aside time each Sunday to pack lunches for the week, makes for healthy “grab&go” lunches. ~While packing lunches, it is a good idea to also pack some snacks for the week.
  5. 5. EASY LUNCH AND SNACK IDEAS • My favorite simple/healthy lunch idea, as seen on Pinterest This is simple and great for busy days. • My favorite healthy snack as seen on Pinterest Having a drawer of healthy snacks helps prevent snacking on junk food.

Diet Without careful attention to your diet, you could end up putting on the freshman 15 and more. Follow these tips to help keep your diet healthy and beneficial. 1.Learn proper portion size. 2.Vary your meals. 3.Eat breakfast. 4.Keep healthy snacks around. 5.Drink moderately. 6.Don't fight stress by eating. 7.Try to eat fruits and veggies. 8.Limit junk food. 9.Make it convenient to eat right. 10.Don't skip meals. 11.Indulge every once in awhile. 12.Take vitamins. 13.Get help for eating disorders.
