2. WHY E-LEARNING?
•E is far more cost effective than classroom training.
•E is easily accessible 24 hours a day from anywhere in the world
•E is interactive and fun
•E for self-paced learning
3. WHY IN HOUSE DEVELOPMENT
•Off the shelf content is plentiful.
•But What about employee induction?
•Or specific system training?
4. WHAT IS AN LMS?
A Learner Management System (LMS for short) is essentially, a tool
used to schedule, track and report on training interventions.
•Users Access e-learning via the LMS
•The LMs tracks usage and score
•Admins have a controlled environment to roll out learning
•A SCORM compliant LMS will play and track content from
anywhere in the world.
5. WHAT IS SCORM?
SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) is the
standard format for E-Learning outputs. A SCORM object can
be uploaded to a Learner Management System & viewed by
the learners via the web. SCORM compliant E-Learning is also
traceable within the LMS environment. This means that you
will be able to generate usage reports and view user’s
progress.

8. E-LEARNING DEVELOPMENT
There are 3 basic stages to E-Learning development:
Stage one- Storyboard:
The Storyboarding process entails creating the basic navigation structure of the course. During this phase you
will develop the introduction page, slide structure, general look and feel as well as place the raw content.
The end result will be an E-Learning course with no interactivity. While it is possible to roll out training in
this format it is not extremely engaging for the end users. It is advisable to add interactivity to your
course.

Stage Two- Media Development:
The Media Development stage entails converting certain sections of your storyboard into interactive learning
objects. This could mean generating an animated list display, creating an assessment game or a
software simulation.
Tools used: Raptivity and or Captivate
Stage Three- Final configuration:
The final configuration entails embedding your interactive learning objects into your storyboard. The final
output is then published in SCORM format for import into the LMS.

9. STORY BOARD – COUSE SHELL
A Course Shell is just that, a shell that houses all information regarding the
course. CourseLab will automatically generate this shell for you during
the set up process.
Locate the CourseLab icon on your Desktop (double click to open).
