This document presents information on the system development life cycle (SDLC). It describes the main phases of the SDLC process, including system study, feasibility study, analysis, design, testing, implementation, and maintenance. For each phase, brief descriptions and examples are provided to illustrate the key activities and purposes. The overall goal of the SDLC is to identify user needs and requirements and develop an information system to address them through a structured process.
SDLC Presentation on System Development Life Cycle
1. MALWA INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT, PATIALA PRESENTATION ON SDLC Submitted by:- Himanshugupta Vishakhajain
2. Introduction :- System development life cycle is a method of creating information system. By using inf’n system an organization can improve the quality of decision making. The main objective of this life cycle is to identify the goals and develop a system i.e designed by the analyst required by user.
3. Phases Of SDLC :- The SDLC contains some phases each of which is software process. Its various phases are:- 1) System Study 2) feasibility Study 3) Analysis 4) Design 5) Testing 6) Implementation & Maintenance
5. System Study :- In this first phase of SDLC is that you should know about the problem well for development of a good solution. For eg :- A system analyst can find good solutions of any problem or complaints occurred by users because of full knowledge about product. System analyst User Product
6. Feasibility Study :- It is the second phase of SDLC. In this phase , the main purpose of feasibility study is not to solve the problem but to achieve the scope also. In other words, Feasibility study is a measure of how beneficial or practical the development of an inf’n system will be to an organisation.
7. For eg:- We can take the most common eg of famous fastfood company allover the world i.eMacdonald’s. This company has main objective is to inlarge their company in whole world. They makes the fastfoods acc. to the user’s choice. The company can also analyze that their investments can pay back more profit? . In this the main pt. that to achieve the scope of company.
8. Analysis :- System analsis is the third phase of SDLC. Whatever stated in the feasibility study, is presented in this phase in the form of pictures. All espects of system into pictorial form and what is its relationship with outer world. For eg:- E-R diagrams,DFD’s etc. This phase also called as “Logical Design”. It can be implemented by using C++ or VB.
9. Design :- The analysis phase is the fourth phase of the SDLC. The analysis phase presents the logical view of the system whereas the design phase presents the physical view of the system. In this coding is included. For eg:- Finds the book acc. To user’s choice Enter edition i.e 2011
10. Testing :- After the design of system it is the time for testing our system. Testing is required for test the system that is the system working acc. to the user’s requirements? Testing is of mainly 3 types:- Unit testing Black box testing White box testing
11. 1) Unit testing :- This testing is done on particular modules. 2) Black box testing:- It deals with only input and output. 3) White box testing:- It deals with whole process of input & output. input output
12. Implementation :- The fifth phase of SDLC is the implementation phase. After the testing it’s the time of implementing the project at the user’s site. User check the system that is it working acc. to his requirements or not. If yes than okay. But if user is not satisfied with system’s performance than the system needs the maintenance efforts.
13. Maintenance:- The last phase of the process SDLC is maintenance phase. Like any system, there is an aging process that requires periodic maintenance of hardware and software. Due to the time some changes have to be made. Hardware also requires periodic maintenance to keep in tune with design specifications. The importance of maintenance is to continue to bring the new system to standards.
