ABOUT ELIZABETH GREGORY HOME
3
Our mission
Elizabeth Gregory Home provides a welcoming and respectful refuge
where homeless and at-risk women have access to compassionate care.
Our vision
Homeless and at-risk women have the power to transform their lives.
Our values
We build our services on the following values:
• Respect – Honoring individuality;
• Inclusion – Accepting and celebrating difference;
• Community – Engendering a sense of belonging.
• Empathy – Listening with compassion and understanding;
Our goals
• To provide a welcoming, safe, and respectful refuge for low-income,
homeless, and at-risk women.
• To help homeless and at-risk women meet immediate needs such as
food, clothing, and day shelter.
• To provide life-enhancing opportunities that foster independence, such
as assistance with acquiring permanent housing, improving their life
skills, and earning sustainable income to break free from the cycle of
homelessness.
Welcome to
Elizabeth Gregory Home!
OUR HISTORY
Elizabeth Gregory Home was conceived by members of University Lutheran
Church in 2000, and was incorporated as a 501(c)3 organization in 2001 with
a focus on supporting homeless and at-risk women. Our transitional housing
program opened its doors to homeless women in October 2006 and our drop-
in Day Center opened in 2007.
4
SERVICES AND PROGRAMS
EGH provides a safe space for homeless and at-risk women over the age of 18
to receive support and access to basic services, including clean clothes, food,
showers, internet communication, counseling, and referrals to shelters or
support services. Our Care Team educates and supports homeless women
through individualized care management.
Since 2011, we have seen a 94% increase in the number of women served
(from 357 in 2011 to 691 in 2016) and a 134% increase in repeat visits (from
4,559 in 2011 to 10,678 in 2016).
Also in 2016:
• 39 women secured permanent housing (a 35% increase from 2015)
• 122 women received health care referrals (vision, dental, medical)
• 65 women attended computer classes (a new offering).
To meet more of the needs that women identified, EGH recently expanded by
doubling our Day Center’s program spaces, including adding two accessible
showers, a classroom for life skills classes, and a wellness center for
counseling and health care.
OUR REACH TO THE COMMUNITY
In 2016, EGH served 691 individual women for a total of 10,678 visits. We
provided 11,831 hot nutritious meals. An additional 37,450 lbs. of groceries
were provided for women to take with them. Thirty nine women
secured permanent housing, and thirteen entered transitional housing.
We are proud to have an engaged, active audience. When you join us as a
partner and sponsor, we are happy to provide you with access to our
community in the ways that most benefit your company.
