The Holy Spirit reveals the mind of God to us - what God is speaking to us now. We need to learn to receive and order our lives by revelation - both the written Scriptures which the Holy Spirit quickens to us, as well as the voice of the Lord in the now, which the Holy Spirit speaks to us in the now.

5. Why do we need revelation through the Spirit?
Why do we need something above and beyond
what we can recognize through our 5 physical
senses or what we are taught in our systems of
education?
6. Why do we need revelation through the Spirit?
1. To know God the Father
All things have been delivered to Me by My Father,
and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor
does anyone know the Father except the Son, and
the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him
(Matthew 11:27)
7. Why do we need revelation through the Spirit?
1. To know God the Father
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of
glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and
revelation in the knowledge of Him
(Ephesians 1:17)
8. Why do we need revelation through the Spirit?
1. To know God the Father
Intimacy with the Father is not because of-
-diligent scientific investigation
-deep intellectual examination
-religious involvement
Having accurate knowledge of God is not the same as
knowing Him intimately. Knowing Him comes through
revelation.
9. Why do we need revelation through the Spirit?
2. To know God the Son
He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the
Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus answered and
said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for
flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My
Father who is in heaven (Matthew 16:15–17).
10. Why do we need revelation through the Spirit?
2. To know God the Son
He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is
he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved
by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself
to him (John 14:21)
11. Why do we need revelation through the Spirit?
2. To know God the Son
Many educated minds with hardened hearts struggle
to understand the divinity of the Lord Jesus.
Ephesians 4:18
18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from
the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them,
because of the blindness of their heart;
12. Why do we need revelation through the Spirit?
2. To know God the Son
To grow in our personal revelation of the Lord Jesus,
we need to-
-walk in love
-walk in obedience
We can make Him known to others only to the degree that we
know Him personally
13. Why do we need revelation through the Spirit?
3. To understand the works of God
Then He began to rebuke the cities in which most of His
mighty works had been done, because they did not repent. At
that time Jesus answered and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord
of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from
the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes. Even
so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight (Matthew
11:20, 25, 26)
14. Why do we need revelation through the Spirit?
3. To understand the works of God
Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and
perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men,
they marvelled. And they realized that they had been with
Jesus. And seeing the man who had been healed standing
with them, they could say nothing against it (Acts 4:13,14)
15. Why do we need revelation through the Spirit?
3. To understand the works of God
The wise and learned – unable to understand the
supernatural. Perhaps they reasoned away the mighty works
of God.
The unschooled & untrained like ‘little children’ followed
Jesus & understood that the miracles were the true works of
God. They continued ministering in the same way after the
ascension of the Lord.
16. Why do we need revelation through the Spirit?
4. To understand the mysteries of the Kingdom
Matthew 13:10,11
10 And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You
speak to them in parables?”
11 He answered and said to them, “Because it has been given
to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but
to them it has not been given.
17. Why do we need revelation through the Spirit?
4. To understand the mysteries of the Kingdom
Matthew 13:15,16
15 For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears
are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they
should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they
should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should
heal them.’ 16 But blessed are your eyes for they see, and
your ears for they hear;
18. Why do we need revelation through the Spirit?
4. To understand the mysteries of the Kingdom
Revelation leads to Repentance, leading to Salvation.
(healing of the total person)
Sometimes God does a mighty work to open people’s eyes
which leads to repentance.
19. The Revelation of the Scriptures
The Scriptures – the written Word of God – a
revelation of unseen realities.
The Scriptures-
-were given by revelation
-were received by revelation
-are understood today by revelation
20. The Revelation of the Scriptures
Ephesians 3:3-5
3 how that by revelation He made known to me the
mystery (as I have briefly written already, 4 by which,
when you read, you may understand my knowledge in
the mystery of Christ), 5 which in other ages was not
made known to the sons of men, as it has now been
revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and
prophets:
21. The Revelation of the Scriptures
Revealed to us through the Spirit
1 Corinthians 2:9-12
9 But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor
have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For
the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
22. The Revelation of the Scriptures
Revealed to us through the Spirit
1 Corinthians 2:9-12
11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit
of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things
of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received,
not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God,
that we might know the things that have been freely given to
us by God.
23. The Revelation of the Scriptures
Revealed to us through the Spirit
We, individually and collectively as the Body of Christ grow in
the understanding of the things that God has freely given to
us because of the Holy Spirit’s revelation.
We need to receive His revelation in order to possess/receive
that which He has prepared for us.
24. The Spirit of Revelation & our personal lives
Luke 2:25-26
25 And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose
name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout,
waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy
Spirit was upon him. 26 And it had been revealed to
him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death
before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.
25. The Spirit of Revelation & our personal lives
The Holy Spirit will bring specific revelation into each of our
lives for-
-counsel
-correction
-encouragement
-direction
Opening our lives to the revelatory work of the Holy spirit =
growth in our knowledge & understanding of the Father, His
Son and His Word
