ORIGIN: Northern America.
NOTES: The flowers are used for
making pancakes. The wood is very
resistant.

BOTANICAL FAMILY:
Salicaceae
ORIGIN: Central and Southern
Europe and Western Asia
NOTES: The wood is tender
and whitish, light and porous of
modest value for its scarce
duration; it is employed for
cellulose paper, cardboard and
matches.

8. THE MULBERRY
BOTANICAL FAMILY: Moracee
ORIGIN: East Asia
NOTES: The leaves are the food of
silkworms. The fruits are sweet and
you can make excellent jams with
them. The wood is a good fuel.

BOTANICAL FAMILY: Aceracee
ORIGIN: Northern Africa, south-western Asia
NOTES: The lumber is used for manufacturing batons,
musical tools, etc. If you toss the fruit up in the air, it
falls as if it were a helix and this was a game that we
played when we were children. It was used for making
hedges.
