• Sound engineering deals with the basic
principles of sound and voices.
• It is very vast and interesting field as it
deals with the music, movies and theatre.
• Audio engineering consists of
equipment's to record, capture, mix, and
reproduce the sound and voices using
mechanical devices.
• This field is challenging but at the same
time rewarding as well.
6. WHO IS A SOUND ENGINEER ?
A Sound Engineer is the person concerned
with the recording, manipulation, mixing
and reproduction of sound for film, radio,
television, music, electronic products and
even computer games.
9. Pre Production is the initial stage in which the scope of
the project is decided. Once you’ve got some songs
written and rehearsed, either solo or with a band, the
next step is to get those songs recorded.
10. Tracking is the process of constructing the song
through overdubs – layering each individual
instrument into the recording one at a time.
11. Mixing is a delicate step in which a pleasant listening
experience is created for your audience.
12. Mastering is perhaps the most important step in
which the project is polished further to make it
sound loud and enhanced.
13. Packing your music means getting it to a deliverable
state. This includes printing of CDs and CD covers,
press kits, and encoding mp3s.

21. Salary expectancy
A fresher in this field, as an assistant sound
engineer will earn around 2,000-3,000 for
eight hours/day whereas a professional
audio engineer with an experience of few
years can easily earn around 40,000-
50,000 per day.
22. Performance and growth of industry in India
• Its scope in India is limited but it has huge
potential for growth in entertainment industry.
• In 2008 20,000 audio engineers were being
employed and the demand is growing everyday.
• In 2011 the demand has increased dramatically
for sound engineers in audio and video industry.
• It is one of the rewarding fields and after
experience a person can make a good career out
of it.
