WHAT IS JUST DIAL?


JustDial (also known as JD) is an Indian company providing
local search services over the Phone, Web, Mobile and SMS.
It is headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra.



Users are required to call a common number and simply tell
the human operator what service they are looking for. Text and
email alerts are then sent to users listing the best options
around them.
INCEPTION


Justdial was founded by V.S.S. Mani in 1996.



The Company finally started providing local search services over the
phone in 1996 under the Just Dial brand and launched their Internet
and mobile Internet services in 2007.



In the beginning, Mr. Mani started the company with a few pieces of
borrowed furniture, rented computers, a 3x5 feet garage which he
took on hire and a seed capital of Rs 50,000.
CURRENT SCENARIO


In fiscal 2012, Justdial addressed over 254.3 million search queries
from millions of users across platforms. As of March 31, 2013
Justdial had 7,457 employees.



Justdial has a database of approximately 9.1 million listings as of
March 31, 2013 and approximately 1,95,100 campaigns as of
December 31, 2012.
FOUNDER


V.S.S. Mani performs in the capacity of the Managing Director and
Chief Executive Officer of the Company.



Mr.Mani thought of the idea while working for yellow pages company
called United Database India (UDI) in 1987.



He felt that the information could prove to be much more useful if it
could be provided over the phone.



In 1996, he came to know that Mumbai's Kandivali exchange owned
the number 088 888 88 888.

He was well aware of the importance of having an easy to remember
number for a service like this and he somehow persuaded the GM to
allot the number to him.



Prior to JustDial, Mr. Mani started a company called AskMe in 1989
based on a similar concept, but at that time owing to low penetration
of telephones in the country, the venture did not take off. After that he
worked on a plan "Wedding Planner" in collaboration with The Times
of India.

Justdial had launched its first local search engine in the year 2007 in India. The
website provides information on local businesses across number of cities. The
search can be categorized in number of way, such as company, name, product
or service, place. Businessmen can also list their businesses through Justdial
website.
MOBILE APPLICATION


Android Application

Justdial Android application was introduced by the company in 2011. The
Android users can search for latest movies, restaurants and more by using this
application.Businessmen can also add their listings into the Justdial database
through this application.


iPhone Application

After the launch of the JD Android App the company decided to create a JD
iPhone App for iPhone users. This new App was launched in 2013 and the
functionality of the iPhone App is similar to the Android App. One can search
for movies, restaurants, Doctors, ATM etc, the App uses the in built GPS to
track the users current location and shows services near them.
ONLINE FOOD ORDERING


JustDial's online food ordering service allows users to order food online
from restaurants listed on the site. Currently this service available in ]16
cities including
Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Faridabad, Ghaziabad,
Gurgaon, Howrah, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Navi
Mumbai, Noida, Pune and Thane.



Food is delivered to the address at the time and date selected by the user.
Food ordering can also be done in advance by placing the order six days
prior to actual delivery date.



JustDial also mentions that it doesn't charge anything over and above the
restaurants' usual food prices.
IF JD IS A FREE SERVICE FOR ITZ CALLER THEN HOW
THE REVENUE IS GENERATED?


The main source of revenue generation for just dial is its B2B clients.



Various business pay just dial for providing their business as the top search
when the callers call in for information.



There are various packages like gold,platinum,silver etc…& the charges also
varies for this services.



Justdial's unconsolidated total revenue was Rs 2,716.1 million and
unconsolidated restated profits after tax from continuing operations were
Rs. 470.8 million as of December 31, 2012.
DATABASE CREATION


The process is simple just dial has a dedicated team specifically for
collecting data.



The call center setup along with customer service and Marketing
Sales also have a database team which calls each and every
business individually collect the data from them in the name of free
business listings with just dial.



The information about the business is taken from yellow pages and
white pages.
HOW THEY UTILIZE THE DATA?


Once the database team collects the information then they forward it to
sales & marketing team.



Sales & marketing team start pitching to those businesses for subscribing
with just dial for the top listing in their line of business.

for some good Hair saloon in Andheri so then just dial will suggest
their payed clients name first.


