2. Introduction
Annie and Myself created a questionnaire to get some feedback on what
audience look for in . We did
this so that when we created our own, we knew what our target audience
were looking for and want to see.
We created this questionnaire on and shared it to our
friends (the age of our target audience) to get responses. We posted it on
to get a wider variety of responses.
3. Demographics
Age: the most popular response was We expected this response
because the majority of the people we asked were friends around the similar
age to us. Also as we posted it on social media, most of our friends on
and followers on are of a similar age.
Our results were as 17 responses of 20 were 11-20 (85%). This
will affect the production of our music video because we know that we need
to make it for as low as 11 year olds, but not making it
too immature for the 20 year olds. This will impact the clothing used and
what the video’s storyline involves.
4. Gender: the most popular response was
This was expected because the majority of the people that
we asked were female. This is mainly because we are both
Female therefore we have more female friends. The
results were because 65% were Female and
35% were Male. This will affect the production of our
music due to us making sure our final product is
and suitable for the female
side. This will include possibly a young guy to attract the
girls or a strong dominant female for them to be inspired
by.
Demographics
5. Ethnicity: the most popular response was This was expected
because we ourselves our White therefore the majority of our friends are
of this ethnicity. The results were because 15 of 20
said White, 4 were mixed and 1 Black. This will only effect our production
slightly due to a in the video.
Demographics
6. : the most response
was D.
This was because we are students,
therefore the majority of our friends will
be of a high social class. Also due to the age of
the people they are younger than the typical
professional or doctor.
The result was
because there were more than two options
chosen. D has 13 of 20, E had 2 and C2 had 2
and C1 had 2, B had 1.
Demographics
7. Design and Genre
the most popular result was at 85%; this result
was because R&B had 10% and Indie had 5%.
This was however because our is
who stereotypically enjoy pop music. This is because
music shows such as the Top 40 and radio’s such as Heart tend to play
and feature more pop music which is targeted at a similar audience to
ours.
This will the production of music video as the song chosen will
be from the POP Genre however we will steer away from the
stereotypical pop music video.
8. Design and Genre
We asked our audience what we think would make an
interesting and effective music video; most of them were
towards the model/artist featured. One response said
“Distinctive characters and their storyline, interesting
props and costumes (linking the ideas of the video”.
Another result was “a unique concept executed
effectively with creative lighting and camera work”. This
is conclusive because it has given us opinions on what our
target audience want to see in our video. This will help
the production of our video as we will consider each and
every response and make sure that it appeals to their
responses and wants.
9. Design and Genre
We asked our audience how they felt towards
lip-syncing; the majority of responses said that it
was good as long as it was done effectively and
professionally. Even though the responses were
mostly yes, we agree with one particular
response that said “can be used effectively but
because it is so popular a unique take on the
convention might be interesting”. This was
conclusive because it has made us think that we
want to take a unique perspective and steer
away from the stereotypical responses.
10. Design and Genre
The response for whether or not to use complex
editing was No at 14 of 20.; this wasn’t due to us feeling that the
younger audiences would want to see a larger and more entertaining variety
of SPX.
This was in one aspect because 30% still chose otherwise,
however it did steer us in a different direction, resulting in us taking a new
approach to the editing and effects in our production of our music video.
This will impact the production of our music video as the following question
we asked of ‘Why?’ gave us lots of opinions to impact the production. One
response was “so long as a simple idea is completed to a professional
standard, there is not a necessity for SPX and complicated editing
techniques”. This steered us to chose one or two complicated techniques but
no need to over complicated and go over the top. “Simple is better”
11. Design and Genre
The result for
was a variety; due to the audience asked being able
to click more than one option gave us an insight into more
information (not restricted to just one option). ‘A Variety’ got
15 out of 20 responses. This was conclusive as we know that
we will now use all of the above answers- Wide shot, close-up,
angles from above and below.
This was due to us feeling that our younger
audience would want a more wider variety of camera and
angles to keep the video interesting and fresh.
This will affect the production of our music video as we will
make sure that we engage our target audience by using a
variety of camera angles from the options above.
12. Design and Genre
The result for the props was a
; this was because
our previous responses to our question regarding
complex editing resulted in more responses saying that
simple is better, therefore they would feel the same
towards props.
The results were because only 3
responses said otherwise. This will affect the production
of our video as we will make sure that we keep our use of
props minimal rather than over doing it.
13. Design and Genre
When we asked what cotumes our target audience wanted tot see the
most popular response was This was
similar to the question regarding props and editing we
felt that our trarget audience wanted to see simplicity
The result was in one sense as we did feel that
more would say casual as only 50% said Casual. However it was
conclusive as we learnt that our target audience wanted simplicity.
This will affect the production of our music video as we will make sure
that the model/actress/artist featured is wearing simple clothing.
14. Design and Genre
When we were asked what our wanted to
see featured as our set/scenery the most popular answer was
with 90%; this result was because
the larger majority said simple.
This was because young people will tend to go for more
everyday scenery as it is what they are used to (normality). They want
to be able to relate however it was also unexpected because most
young people want to be inspired by imaginative experiences that
others are experiencing.
This will effect the production of our music video as we will make sure
that we feature simple everyday scenery and nothing too extravagant.
This response works better as we have a more restricted option of
spaces (college).
15. Design and Genre
When asking which makeup to be
feature in the video was Natural; the results were
(50%); this was because the younger
audiences stereotypically would steer away from
extravagant makeup however in this day and age,
many of our aspiring celebrities do tend to appear
in a lot of makeup. This will affect the production of
our video as we will use more simple makeup
however still try to include slight addition of stage
makeup due to 35% selecting this option.
16. Design and Genre
When asking if there anything that they wanted to add
these were the following responses:
“Keep it simple”
“Make sure angles are steady”
“Keep to one exact theme, making it more professional”
“Natural is better, people can relate better”
“Use props that relate to the song”
“Keep to a specific theme”
This will affect the production of our magazine as we will
make sure we keep in mind all of these responses.
