  1. Q4+5 Who are your target audience and how did you attract and address them?
  2. Who? O My target audience will be young adult women aged 16-25 interested in the music genre rock, such as Anya
  3. Anya O Extensive rock music collection O Loves to dye hair different colours O 19 years old
  4. Anya O Has an interest in tattoos and piercings O Likes to go to local gigs with friends
  5. Also listens to: O Asking Alexandria, My Chemical Romance, Bring Me The Horizon, Paramore
  6. Looks up to: O Taylor Momsen
  7. Last Album Bought: O preordered ‘Metal Matters’ by Asking Alexandria
  8. Why? O I chose this target audience because I feel that there is no current magazine on the market aimed at women who enjoy this genre of music. My magazine will differ to male-orientated rock magazines, such as NME, as it will include topics that I know women are more interested in.
  9. How? -Cover I used an age and gender appropriate subject for my cover image in order to attract my target audience. The facial expression of the subject and the clothing worn are also factors which add to the theme. The subject’s eye makeup is also dark and heavy, a common attribute with artists of this genre.
  10. How? -Cover I also used the colour pink frequently as this is the most commonly known colour associated with girls. The pink I have used, however, is not a baby pink, it is a shocking and bright tone, which coincides with my rock theme. The contrasting green and yellow, and different fonts, are used to bring in the rock theme also. I have included many names of different artists featured in the magazine on the front cover as this is what draws the target audience into buying the product after initially seeing the cover photo. The names mentioned are artists and bands of the rock genre.
  11. How? –Contents page O dsv I used pink, green and yellow in the same way as the cover on my contents page. I decided, however, to use a clear, sans serif font on this page as its main aim is to inform the reader of what the magazine contains – it needs to be easy to read quickly and at a glance. The editor’s letter uses informal language, similar to what the target audience would use in everyday life. I did this so that they could related and feel a part of and welcomed by the editor of my magazine.
  12. How? –Contents page I used age and gender appropriate subjects for my contents page images so that the target audience can feel that they can related to the artists and bands inside the magazine. The facial expression of the subjects and the clothing worn are also factors which add to the theme – Alice’s face is menacing, and Gabby’s top is of the band ‘The Clash’ (a popular punk rock band in the 1970’s). Alice’s makeup is also dark and heavy, a common attribute with artists of this genre. Jess’ hand in a claw shape could also be seen as threatening, therefore fitting in with the rough, hardcore side to the genre.
  13. How? -Article I used an age and gender appropriate subject for my cover image in order to attract my target audience. The clothing worn the subject is also an a factor which add to the theme. The sans serif font I used has connotations with girls as it is more curly and flowery.
