Grassroots: A Sims 3 EPIC Challenge, Chapter 1.1
1.
2. Every great story has to start somewhere and for one man his story
begins in a time of ancient myths and when the mysteries of the
world were still new. His name is Temecula Atredius and after a long
journey he has finally found a home and a place to settle down, a
peaceful town named Riverview.
3. Temecula: I’ve had enough of running, of hiding, and always having
to watch my back. It’s time to settle down and stop running. I need a
place where I can be who I am and not have to hide my powers…a
place where any children I have won’t be persecuted or hunted
simply because we have powers that some think are evil and should
only belong to the gods.
4. Temecula: I can live off the land, grow my own food, catch my own
fish. A simple life free of hatred and violence. My father was a
fisherman and I will follow in his footsteps. And if the gods are
willing, to find someone to share this simple life with would be great
too.
5. Temecula: Although, I don’t think this toad will taste too good. At
least I can use it for my alchemy elixers. I must keep up my magic
practices, even if I still think I should keep it secret. Just in case
someone finds me.
6. Temecula: Sending ahead my belongings was a smart idea, imagine
trying to carry them all the way I would never have gotten far. My
uncle was a great mason, he taught me how to build a home for
myself this basement is the perfect place to house my alchemy
station and cabinet.
7. Temecula: Early morning fishing is good if you like peace and quiet,
but even the peace can’t really be enjoyed if it’s pouring rain. But
hey, it’s worth it for the best catches. I bet this fish will sell for a lot
of money! I have to be able to support a family, once I find the right
woman to start one with.
8. Temecula: When I met Medina while I was selling my catches in town,
I was convinced she was sent by the gods to answer my prayers. She
was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen, her kind heart
showed when I saw her get an apple for a child from the highest
branches. I know she’ll be a good wife and an even better mother.
9. Temecula: Her dowry provided me with the much needed funds to
improve the home we will be sharing. I was saving to build a barn
and silo to store our food for the winter to keep it dry and clean.
10. This home will house our family for generations, I hope to live long
enough to see how it will change as my children grow up and have
their own children. Each generation’s contribution to the family farm
is sure to improve it even more.
11. Temecula: When my beloved announced she was with child, I was over the
moon. I had wanted to wait until I could afford to give her a dream wedding
like she deserved, but sometimes Fate has other plans. I had to use up most
of my savings to get her a wedding ring, before people talked about this child
being born out of wedlock.
12. Temecula: She was happier than when she found out she was with child when
I proposed and having a big wedding didn’t interest her. All she wanted was to
be with me and spend our lives together making this small farm into a place
our children can treasure long after we’ve passed into the Afterlife.
13. Temecula: I wanted to marry her immediately, a child on the way
meant we can add an enclosure to the outhouse, I don’t want to bathe
our child when it’s freezing cold outside and snowing. And Medina
agreed with me.
14. I shall remember this for as long as I live. The day when the
beautiful Medina became mine and the result of our love growing
inside her.
15. Temecula: My beloved had just finished a whimsical painting for the baby
when she was suddenly overcome with the pains of labour. I had been out
fishing when one of our neighbours ran to tell me, I would never forgive
myself if I missed the birth of my child, so I ran home as fast as I could. I
didn’t want to miss this event.
16. Temecula: Medina said I was panicking worse than she was, I was
afraid I would miss this. Even though she was the one in pain, she
was still trying to calm me down, she’s wonderful my wife.
17. Temecula: I was trying to gather some things together to go see the
midwife with, you think you’re prepared but when the moment
comes you forget everything. Medina said there was no time to get
to the midwife before the baby was born…
18. Temecula: Of course, when our daughter is old enough and asks
about when she was born…I won’t be telling her she was born on the
front lawn of our house. Somehow I don’t think she’ll like hearing
about that.
19. Temecula: Our daughter Rena is a Friendly and Eccentric little angel. She likes the
colour Grey like her mother, and Grilled Salmon like her father. I am worried that my
name will not be passed on with a daughter, I had heard that most families were
restricted to one child except in the case of twins or triplets. The first born is
heir…perhaps there may be a loophole if your first born is a girl. I will have to look into it.
Rena did not get my powers as a witch, it is disappointing but perhaps it’s for the best
she did not get them.
20. There must be a way to have another child, a man needs a son to
carry on his name doesn’t he? If any of the gods are listening,
perhaps it will be in their divine will to allow me a son…
