  1. 1. What images are in your mind when you hear the words virus, plague, epidemic, pandemic? An outbreak every 100 years: Plague of 1720, cholera of 1820, Spanish flu of 1920, coronavirus of 2020
  2. 2. Plague is an infectious disease caused by the bacteria Yersinia pestis, usually found in small mammals and their fleas. The disease is transmitted between animals via their fleas and, as it is a zoonotic bacteriuma, it can also transmit from animals to humans. Symptoms include fever, weakness and headache. Usually this begins one to seven days after exposure. A virus is a submicroscopic infectious agent that replicates only inside the living cells of an organism. Remember to talk….use pictures….interviews, animations, statistical data, movies. Cite your source !
