- Maps is my favorite and most frequently used application on my phone. Directions to most places are pretty accurate.But, for unknown landmarks, still I depend on phone based directions.
- During B.A.U.G Hackathon a few months back, we wanted to solve the last mile connectivity problem using custom sharable map links
- To spice it up, we wanted the shared linked consumable using Augmented Reality.
- MINORITY REPORTWe explored many Augmneted Reality based implementations and found that map based direction wasn;t solved before
- With smartphones having needed sensors, Augmneted Reality is more feasible in these devices.
- Comparision between various SDKs and why we chose LAYAR.Always select a tool that you are conortable with.
- How the app works?An user draws custom map routes on a Google Map canvas and shares the generated link over SMS. When that link is opened, using LAYAR platform, the virtual markers are visible in the route. Based on the shape of the route on the map, appropriate markers denoting the directions are made visible.
