2. First Rough Draft-Front Cover Layout
The Masthead should be
on top of the page,
designed in the font that
I have chosen.
For the layout I will place
all the cover lines on one
side. The main cover line
will be right next to the
main image, while the
other ones which are
smaller will be around
the main cover line.
The main image
should cover the
biggest part of the
front cover. It should
be the most important.
There will be another
picture for the
secondary article as it
should appeal to the
audience as well. The
main image will be the
focus of the front cover
as I will use an original
photo to capture the
attention of the target
audience.

3. First Rough Draft- Content Page Layout
The Masthead will be
on top of the page,
with the same font as
the front cover
masthead.
The layout will be split
into two parts, between
contents and images to
make it more
intriguing. The images
will feature sport
topics. The design shall
be simple and
attractive.
The bottom of the
page will consist
editors note and
poster, however the
consumers probably
do not care about the
bottom part of the
page.

4. First Rough Draft- Double Spread Article Layout
For the
layout I have
chosen that
the main
image will
be in the
middle and
part of the
left side of
this double
spread
article,
making it
more
significant.
The columns will be placed on the right side, as it is not
that relevant as the main image, which should capture the
attention of the consumer first. The second image is on the
bottom right corner, it should show sport topic contents,
sport game pictures, that appeal to the readers.
I have chosen
my Masthead
to be on the
top left side of
page as it is a
classic
masthead
place which is
easy to see..
The Sport
Logo is
optional as it
will only be
used if it
makes the
article more
intriguing.

5. Content Sample For The Front Cover
 For my Front cover I will use different Sub-stories that in my opinion will appeal to my
potential audience and interest them in buying my magazine
 FIFA 18- read the review about the newest and most popular Sport
game, its deconstruction and criticism
 The 5 best sports of 2018- short previews of the most popular sports in the world
 Interview with a pro sports person- read about what a professional sportsperson has to say
about sports and his career
 Famous Sport Events- read all about the events, charity games and popular trends
 New Sportswear- read about the latest sportswear for both males and females, good for all sports

6. Draft Ideas- Buzzer Beater Front Cover
DesignFor my masthead I have
chosen cooper Black as
it looks cool and grabs
attention with its
emboldened letters.
I have chosen a
variety of colours and
bold fonts, such as
grey, green, red,
white to make it
visually appealing to
the audience. I have
used word art to
capture their
attention even more.
I have also added a
secondary image, if
the main picture is
not enough to
capture the
attention of the
consumers.
The main image
consists of a
professional
basketball player. He
is famous and well
respected throughout
the basketball world.
Kyrie Irving played
for the Cleveland
Cavaliers, now in
Boston Celtics, which
means that the fans
of both teams will be
attracted to the
magazine.

7. Deconstruction of Front cover
 I really like the style of my front cover and main image. We can see that the
pose and costume of the player is a very common gesture in basketball, just like
his face expression. In my opinion the secondary image placed on the top right
corner is also very fascinating as there is other content as well beside the main
image. I like the font that I have used, word art looks pretty cool. The use of
colours in my opinion is appropriate as well as the Masthead, as it is placed on a
clearly visible spot and it is pleasing as it is uses my chosen font and has a good
feature.
 However, the bottom part of the front cover look empty, so I might add few
more sub-stories or will move the secondary image downwards to make the
cover look even more pleasing and appealing to the audience.

Design
I have decided to keep
my content page
masthead in the same
design as for my front
cover. The same font
and design are very
stylish and might
appeal to the consumer
as it is plain and simple.
I have chosen a
blue/white mix
background which
looks fascinating and
gives the content page a
tasteful look .
I have chosen these 3
images for my content
page as they are the
most relevant with the
topic, and covers it with
sophisticated
information about the
main articles.
I have decided to use
the Arial black and
Cooper black font as
they are easy to read
and are intriguing for
the consumers.

10. Deconstruction Of Content Page
 I have chosen to copy the design of my front cover masthead and use it for my
content page masthead as well as I find it eye-catching and very attractive. I
find the images a great addition to the content page as they are a relevant and
necessary part of a good looking content page. The fonts for the contents are
acceptable as they are simple and easy to read, which I find important for a
magazine content page fonts.
 The layout of the content page is very simple. The images are not well framed
but are clearly shown in the middle of the page. The use of colours are not bad,
however using different and more bright colours might add on the final look of
my content page.

 For my double-spread article I will include a list of potential questions that I will use in
the interview.

 At what age have you started doing sports and why?
 What kind of experience is it to have sports as a profession?
 Do you have any advice to people who also want a Sporting Career?
 How did your parents react when you told them about your choice of profession?
 What are your thought on the current state of Basketball?

 What do you think of your team( Coach, teammates)?
 What feeling is it when you score a basket?
 How did you first Basketball game go?
 Do you have any regrets for choosing sports(Basketball) as your Career?

Spread article Design
The colour
scheme is
really
interesting as
it involves a
range of
colours that
give a cool
contrast to the
article.
The
background
picture is of a
famous NBA
star who has
just won a
trophy. He
looks really
happy and
confident
which makes
his interview
probably
amazing.
The layout of this draft is very simple. The main image is in
the middle of the page and grabs an attention through his
facial expressions and its obvious that He is in the main
focus with the trophy in his hand.

13. Deconstruction of Double-Spread
Article
The use of color scheme is very pleasant. The mix of colors such as blue, yellow, black, etc.
gives pleasure to the eyes of the audience. The model is a famous sportsman who is holding
a trophy, his face expressions are really convincing as we can see that he is happy that he
won. I believe that the main image is very intriguing as he is wearing a usual basketball
outfit.
The layout of this double spread article is not that attractive. For my final design I will use
real model for my double spread article image and make sure to make the image and fonts
attractive and easily readable for the target audience.

At what age have you started doing sports and why?
I have been doing since the age of 10, sports is really fun and healthy.
How do you image having sports as a profession?
It is a good idea. First off al because it is a good sourcce of money. The better you play, the more money and fame you get.
When did you decide to start a sports career?
I have decide to have a sports career at the age of 17. I have been watching and reading news about how successful sportspeople are,
how everyone knows their name and how much money they get for just doing their favorite thing in the world. I have a feeling that I
could do the same, get lots of money and fame, live a fascinating life and enjoy the sport I'm doing, which is Basketball.
How did people react on your choice and who is your biggest support?
People did not react well at first. Nobody believes in my chosen profession and that I can achieve success with basketball. My biggest
support is a friend of mine in school who tells me day by day to practice, shoot, and work harder to achieve your required goals.
How much pressure do you have when you are playing in a really important game?
There is a lot of pressure during a basketball match. You never know how well are you going to perform or how much are you gonna
play.
How important is it for you to win and how do you deal with loss?
Winning is a really important and a major thing in all sports. Nobody likes to lose neither do I as it shows that the abilities
and skills are not enough, and you are required to practice and work harder.

What are your thoughts on the current state of basketball?
Basketball is a really hard and tough sport. It is stressful and requires full concentration throughout the game. Players are really
skilled and talented and are hard to defend and play against. Basketball is improving day by day, there are huge talents in the world
everyday that are becoming better and better with lots of practices and hard work. It is very popular and is already the favorite of the
audience all around the world.
Do you get along with your teammates?
I'm in a good relationship with my teammates. They have one of the best manners and excepted me in their community and group.
What do you think of your coach and teammates?
My coach is a really friendly guy. He has very good drills and understanding of the game. My teammates are the best players at this
age that I have seen. All of them have remarkable talent sand skills and they show this both on and off court.
What feeling is it when you score a basket?
Scoring a basket is a soothing and excellent feeling. When you see the ball flying towards the basket and the net gives a pleasurable
moment.
How did your first basketball game go?
My first basketball game wasn’t so good. I only played 2 min in total, the rest I spent on the bench. The coach told me that with time
he will use me more and more depending on how I perform on trainings.
What motivated you to choose basketball as a career?
Basketball is a great sport. Having it as a profession is a delight to me as it is one of the best sports in the world.

18. Magazine Pitching
 After I have completed my primary and secondary research and my sports magazine
rough drafts and favorably analyzed them I have found out that-
 Interview double spread articles are very common in the sports magazine industry
 Content pages consist of 1-3 images
 The fonts that are used are simple and easily readable
 The front cover almost always uses a medium shot to show the model or cover character
 The colors schemes are usually complex, which means that there are a range of colors
used to catch and grab the eyes of the consumers
 Double spread articles that are in the interview are usually in 2 parts. One of them is a
huge image and the other one text with maybe a smaller icon in the corners
 My target audience are everyone who do sports, but mainly between age17-35 who choose
sports as their career.
 I hope that my sports magazine will be successful, it will be really conventional since I
will use real models for my Front cover, content page and double spread article. I want to
make a magazine that is appealing to the eyes of the audience.
