3. • Teaching approach: The lesson is based on the Natural Approach, and organized through the
PPP procedure
• Materials and resources: Animal flashcards (Mommy and baby: Elephant , kangaroo,
monkey, penguins, snake, polar bear) projector, speakers computer, pendrive with the video, 5
papers,crayons, tape, and weather flashcards.
• Pedagogical use of ICT in class: We will watch a video about animals for students to have fun,
and review the vocabulary words we have seen.
• Seating arrangement: Students will be sitting in a circle and then looking at the board. At
some points of the lesson, they will move around the class while listening to my instructions.
Also at the end they will be seating in their tables.
• Cooperative work: In this lesson there will be cooperative work as there teacher suggested to
make group activities which they enjoy.
• Assessment: what will be assessed and how: I’ll check that students comprehend and
identify the new vocabulary of animals, as they follow me in the following activities. I will give
examples and encourage them to produce as much new vocabulary as they can. I will act as a
guide in some of the activities and give positive oral feedback.
Warm-up 5´:
Purpose: To check what students know and revise vocabulary seen by their teacher.
We will begin the warm up by singing the hello song and presenting myself.
Hello, hello how are you today?
I`m fine, i`m fine
and you, how are you?
4. I will say that I am great and I will present myself by saying that I am Miss. Ana and that I am
very happy to be with them today.
We will go on with the weather song.
How`s the weather like today, like today, like today?
How`s the weather like today?
Today is…?
(I will show them the wrong flash card for example if its sunny I will show them the rainy
flashcard and say ¨Today is Sunny¨ I will expect them to say no and then show them the right
flashcard)
Presentation 10’:
Purpose: To review the vocabulary given during the kindergarten practice.
Activity 1 -5´:
We will watch the video we saw last class once again as for students to enjoy the video and
review the vocabulary we have seen. The teacher will divide the class as to not have problems
with the projector and for them to have space to dance and sing along.
5. ¨Okay kids! Remember the video from yesterday? We will see it once again, let`s see if you can
sing along and do the same movements as the animals! ¨
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwRmivbNgQk
Activity 2- 5´:
In On the board, I will tape on top the animals from yesterday on top. Sstudents have to name
them as I point to them and at the bottom I will have their baby animals all mixed up. The
students have to grab the marker and match the mommy/daddy with their baby.
¨Now here I have… What animal was this? Is it an Elephant? (while pointing to the kangaroo)
They will answer with ¨No an Elephant!¨ And I will continue until we named them all. Down
here I have their babies! But wait… they are all mixed up! Does the mommy elephant go with
the baby polar bear? Nooo..¨ ¨Victoria can you come up to the board, grab this marker and
match it with its mommy or daddy?¨ (The teacher will explicit with her finger how she has to
match it)
Comment [A1]: To actívate schemata, you may
start by miming some animals and asking students
What am I?
For instance, you stomp your feet, and then when
they answer you encourage them to say stomp like
the elephants do. This way, you are revising both
vocabulary and the lyrics themselves.

6. Development 10’:
Purpose: to further expose the learners to the target language, to foster comprehension by
playing and working in groups.
Activity 3- 8´:
I will explain to the students that they will play a game. Each student will have a flashcard but they have
to keep it a secret. When I say GO! They will get up and to try to find 4 people who have the same
animal by acting and sounding like the animal.
¨Now that each of you have a flashcard you will get up¨(The teacher will make them stand up) and you
have to act and sound like the animal you got! ¨( I will start with an example.) Now when I say go you
have to find 4 people with the same animal as you and you have to sit down as soon as you find them!¨
GO!
Activity 4- 5´:
For the last minutes of the class I will have girls on one side and boys on the other I will give
them a simple picture of an animal which is cut out and they have to put it back together! I will
have an example on the board.
¨Now do you see this picture on the board? I will give you a picture like this all cut out (I will
show them the pieces ) You have to put it together and make an animal!
¨Now I want the boys on this side and the girls on the other¨
Example of a flashcard:
Comment [A2]: First, you should demonstrate.
Do check understanding before you move on.
Comment [A3]: Two large groups might not be a
good idea. Just a few students will actually
participate actively.
Why don`t you take more puzzles of different
animals and ask them to work in smaller groups (3-4
children per group)?
Play some music while they are working! You can
further expose them to Let`s go to the zoo.
7. Closure - 3´:
“Oh, no! Look at the time” (pointing to the clock on the wall). It’s time to say goodbye!
We will sing the goodbye song that they sing with their teacher.
