Principles guiding the proposed solution : <ul><li>Soft object does not affect the object which is harder than it. </li></ul><ul><li>In our case soft object is bunch of fibers and Hard object is moving cylindrical object of mild steel. </li></ul><ul><li>Every object tends to traverse in the direction of least resistance. </li></ul>

Desired Motion of the object: <ul><li>Object should not deviate from it’s centre-line path more than (10 degree). </li></ul><ul><li>So we have to ensure that the centerline path of the object should be of least resistance. </li></ul><ul><li>It can be done by arranging the bunch of fibers in the shape like frustum of cone in the direction of the path traversed by the object. </li></ul>

5. 5. Arrangement in pressure vessel: <ul><li>Frustum of sphere is fixed using interference fit with the dome part of the pressure vessel. </li></ul><ul><li>Frustum of sphere forms the base which supports the bunch of fibers against the incoming object. </li></ul>

8. 9. <ul><li>Fibers does bloom in presence of water at 5 bar. </li></ul><ul><li>Blooming of fibers covers the entire circumferential area of the pressure vessel. </li></ul><ul><li>The frustum cone shape arrangement of fibers direct it’s motion in the centerline of the pressure vessel. </li></ul>
9. 11. <ul><li>Fibers got accumulated as the object progresses, it leads to gradual deceleration of object. </li></ul><ul><li>Due to high resilience of fibers it sustains the impact of the moving object. </li></ul>

Supporting the falling object : <ul><li>A series of around 10 chains to be provided connecting across the bottom part of the pressure vessel at a distance of 1m apart, in such a way that it forms hanging bridge for the falling object. </li></ul><ul><li>When object falls from the centerline of the pressure vessel, it is supported by the hanging bridge of chains which prevents the object touching the bottom surface of the vessel. </li></ul>
11. 13. Advantages of proposed solution: <ul><li>It is simple to implement. </li></ul><ul><li>It is cost effective. </li></ul><ul><li>No mechanical moving parts are present. </li></ul><ul><li>Fibers will long last without any maintenance. </li></ul>
