This presentation is the English version of the one Cécile and I made at the \'Serious Games Expo 2009\' in Lyon on the 9th December 2009. It showcases the set of simulations / serious games designed and developed at INSEAD CALT and then commercialised by AlphaLabs on collaboration, change, innovation management, as well as InnoTube, the collaborative WEB2.0 tool developed in the framework of the EC-funded project LABORANOVA which is closing its experimental phase. For more details on EIS, EagleRacing, Synergy, LingHe and GulfCom please contact Cécile at info@alpha-simulations.com. For what concerns InnoTube, please feel free to contact me via LinkedIn.

  5. 5. A tool adapted to different kinds of organizations and situations 2. To Whom ? 2. To Whom ? The EIS Simulation applies to: •SMEs and large corporations. •Private and public organizations. •Universities, Business Schools and Corporate Universities. The EIS Simulation enables participants to experience the change process by stimulating productive group discussions on the subject of change and innovation management within a risk-free environment. AlphaLabs 2009
  6. 6. Participants of the EIS Simulation are confronted with a real situation of change management and with all its difficulties 3. How ? 3. How ? The simulation devises a situation where a group of consultants and/or managers (i.e. the change agents) are appointed to convince the reluctant management board of an outstanding performing subsidiary to adopt the parent company’s Executive Information System (EIS). A simulation-based workshop can be rolled out within a timeframe of a half-day and a full day (including briefing, simulation running and de-briefing) with teams of 3-6 members each. AlphaLabs 2009
  7. 7. The essential tool for change management 4. Our References 4. Our References More than 240 professionals (Managers, professors, and trainers) deploy the EIS Simulation world-wide. In 2009, more than 12 400 persons were trained. 18. 18. LingHe Simulation What is LingHe? LingHe is an adaptation of the EIS Simulation where the characters, their behaviours and all related dynamics (networks, cultural factors, etc.) simulate a realistic Chinese context. What does a LingHe workshop aims to achieve? The LingHe Simulation provides a rich, interactive learning experience, intended to help individuals understand how change and transformation take place in Chinese AlphaLabs 2009 organizations. 20. 20. GulfCom Simulation AlphaLabs 2009 AlphaLabs - 2009
  21. 21. GulfCom Simulation GulfCom has been conceived to explore the specific challenges of leading change in Middle Eastern organisations and to address the local specific training needs. What's the game scenario? Imagine yourself at GulfCom. GulfCom is a Middle East telecommunications company with a majority shareholder named Al Saqr Investments. Your mission: Al Saqr group that has sent you to GulfCom to convince the 24 members of its Management Board to effectively implement locally the group-wide Performance Management System (PMS) As you enter the GulfCom simulation, you'll see that the new PMS has already been firmly set in place throughout the entire Al Saqr group, with the only exception of GulfCom; you'll also see that GulfCom has tended to finding convenient ways or "nice excuses" to avoid / put off the adoption of the group-wide PMS so far, because of their outstanding contribution to the overall success of the GulfCom operations. In what specific context will GulfCom be used? The GulfCom Simulation will be the key component of 1-day learning experience workshops designed for facilitated groups of managers and decision makers who are interested in extending their understanding of AlphaLabs 2009 the dynamics of change and transformation in Middle East contexts.
  22. 22. Eagle Racing Simulation AlphaLabs 2009
  23. 23. Eagle Racing Simulation EagleRacing is a video-based collaborative decision-making AlphaLabs 2009 simulation.
  24. 24. Eagle Racing Simulation What management challenges does EagleRacing aim to address? •Management decision-making •Cross-sector collaboration •Ethical, culture-specific and value-related factors in collaboration contexts •Collaboration traps and barriers •The opportunities and limitations of collaboration technologies AlphaLabs 2009
  25. 25. Eagle Racing Simulation How is it played? EagleRacing can be played on-site during a workshop or on-line over 4-8 weeks in one of 3 possible formats (“Beyond the classroom”): Engaging participants actively before the workshop starts on campus - helping them to get to know each other better through a collaboration experience which is then debriefed at the beginning of the program (BEFORE) Engaging participants actively during a module break (DURING) Engaging participants actively after the end of a workshop – giving them a context (and “pretext”) to remain in touch afterwards, by extending their management learning experience as well as their networking and collaboration patterns (AFTER) AlphaLabs 2009

  28. 28. Synergy Simulation The Challenge of Adopting Advanced Collaboration Processes and Systems in Large Organization Your mission: You and your team have just been appointed by the Board of GlobeCom to a challenging and critical management mission: Over the next 6 months you will be operating at FrontMedia, a recently acquired fast growing company. Your objective there is to persuade a successful but very independent-minded top management team to harmonize their processes to the ones of the GlobeCom group by adopting Synergy, the group-wide collaboration system that GlobeCom has recently rolled out.
