                                     “My Life Story”

Writing an autobiography could be an interesting journey into our past life and
also an opportunity to relive the best moments. So, I would like you to know me and
learn from my life experiences. I hope you will enjoy reading this autobiography of mine.
My name is Aminadab and my families define my name as a blessing from God
and it came from the bible character who is one of the descendants of Jesus genealogy.
I was born on November 15, 1992 at four o clock in the morning. I was born at Obrero,
Butuan City, and this is the town of my mother’s side. My mother’s name is Jocelyn D.
Mahinay and my father’s name is Rolly A. Mahinay. My father was a farmer from
Negros Occidental who migrated in Butuan City to have a job where he met my mother
and fall in love with her. My mother also is the daughter of a fisherman father and a fish
vendor mother who are my grandparents in my mother side. My grandparents in my
father side is a farmer, they owned lot of lands in Negros Occidental. My grandfather at
my father side had already passed away. Because of this my grandmother motivates
herself to be strong without the existence of my late grandfather with the help of her two
sons including my father and five daughters. My mother is the youngest girl among the
three girls and five boys of the siblings of my grandparents at my maternal side. I am so
proud to have my family now. Despite of being poor, still I am so thankful to God that He
gave this kind of family to me. I am the eldest girl in the twelve siblings of my parents.
People treated me as a boy, because I grow up with the guidance of my elder brothers
and elder cousins who played basketball, in short I am surrounded by boys at that time.
My family was very blessed to have a very big family. All of my brother’s names are
taken from the bible namely: my eldest brother Joshua, my second brother Jehoiakim,
third Jonas and fourth Jesse and only me among the girls whom my parents named
after the name of Amminadab from the genealogy of Jesus. My sister’s names are:
Amilyn, Angelika, AprhyllAljahmi, Shellanie and Cristell. My one sister Roda and my one
brother who is John had already passed away after my mother giving birth to them.
John is the twin brother of my sister Amilyn. I spent most of my times in readings books
and sometimes chatting with my friends. I rarely used my time on hanging out with
friends. I love to stay at home after the class to watch movies or to have some rest or to
have some sleep. I’m not a busy type of a person. If there is a work to be done, then I
would put my time working on it. I hate the time spent without doing something. I am
currently residing at A.L. Wakan View Homes, Lower Apokon, Tagum City. My favorite
pets are dogs. I stayed in the house of my aunt who has a lot of dogs in their house. I
really love dogs, for me they help me to forget all those problems when I’m enjoying my
play to them. I feed them as a person like me. Three years ago, when I had this Meniere
Pincher breed of a dog, I named her Pinchay and I treated her as my best
friend.Pinchay loves to sleep beside me every night. She loves to put her head under
my armpits. She accompanies me when I will go to fishing in the small pond in our
barangay. Pinchay also loves to go to church every Sunday, in the church she will sit
beside me and be seated like a person. Suddenly, a time came that Pinchay have this
kind of uncurrable disease cause by a virus which cause Pinchay to vomit blood.
Because of this, my best friend and my favorite dog among the dogs in the house had
passed away. At that moment, I cried a lot that even Pinchay is not a person like me
then I love her as one of us. Until now I always remember the memories that me and
Pinchay have shared. Many of my relatives told me that I don’t have this talent to brag.
But I believe in the saying of the bible that one of us has a unique talent, maybe it’s not
in singing or in dancing but maybe in preaching the good news of God to everyone or
maybe it’s in teaching. I have this hobby that becomes my favorite sport later on and it
is swimming. My aunt is the first person to encourage me to try to participate in
swimming and she also comprise me in her swimming team. Fishing, playing table
tennis, playing volleyball and playing basketball are some of my hobbies. Also, playing
games in the internet like tetris battle, dota all-star and counter strike are some of my
past time. My first ambition in life is to become a professional teacher someday. Second
is to have a stable job and a permanent one so that I can help my family especially to
my parents who raised me from birth up to this present. I want also to help the church in
the future especially our church who had a big contributions to me of where I am now. I
will never regret the help of the important people who help me to become mature in the
future and to become a stable one. I hope in the future that I can find my true happiness
in everything in life with the help of God. And I hope also that I can do all I want to do in
the future with the help of my family, friends, relatives and especially God. My dearest
fear in life is the lightning and thunder. If the clouds were dark and it will rain with
lightning and thunder I will not go outside the house I will just lay on my bed and have
some sleep. Then after sleeping, my fear will just vanished. My favorite food that I love
to eat every morning is Ampalaya with egg. I dislike food that taste like something sweet
and sour. In movies I love the movie entitled “The Vinci Code” and also “Angels and
Demons”, I also read the novels of these two movies. I don’t like a movie that has a lot
of rude scene. My favorite meals are: ampalaya with egg, sinigang, grilled milkfish and
many more. My favorite poems are the poems of Dr. Jose P. Rizal especially “Sa
AkingMgaKababata”. My favorite television programs are: Show Time and American
Idol. My favorite books are: the series of Harry Potter, the series of Twilight, Angels and
Demons, Da Vinci Code and most especially the Bible. My favorite outfit is wearing
skinny jeans and shirts. My favorite hobby is watching television programs. My favorite
sports are: swimming, table tennis, volleyball and basketball.
I have this early memory of mine when I was about four years old. During this
time my parents have decided to migrate at my father’s homeland in Negros Occidental.
At this time, I remember that I love eating those ripe guavas at my grandparent’s farm. I
love to stay in the farm to be with my favorite grandfather who loves to drink “tuba” a
folk wine that is the product of the coconut tree in the farm. I tasted it once and it turns
me into a very deep sleep the whole day and my eyes get blurred as the result of the
wine into my body. My grandfather wants me to accompany him in the farm so that he
will have a singer and a dancer to entertain him while working. He always wants me to
sing and dance with the payment of one peso per sing and dance. The best memory
that I have during this age is the time that my grandmother ask me to bring the “nigo” to
my mother. A nigo is something round thing that can be used as a filter for the rice. This
nigo is very big for a four year old child to carry, in result of this when I already carry the
nigo I suddenly stepped on a stone and it turns me down. In turning down, the nigo
cover my whole body that anyone that will pass on that road cannot see me. I just sleep
under the nigo when my uncle the brother of my father had passed on that same road
where I was in a deep sleep had familiarized the nigo that it is her mother’s property and
knowing that this nigo is the favorite nigo in the house. He gets it without noticing that
me is in a deep sleep under that nigo. After he found me, he get me with the nigo and
bring me to our house. My mother and my father was really shock for what had
happened. At this age also, I was very excited to go to school, to meet my classmates,
to meet my teacher in kinder and especially to wear my new school uniforms. My father
was the first to accompany me in the school. At this time, I remember that my parents
brought me a new set of clothes worth one hundred fifty pesos only. Until now that set
of clothes were being used by my nieces.
I have done an interview of one of my relative in my father’s side about what
were me like as a child when they first saw me. I interviewed one of my dearest uncles
who is the only brother of my father. He said that when he first saw me I was around
four years old. He told me that I look like princess at that time we arrived. When I asked
him that to whom I look alike? He said that I look like my aunt’s face; this aunt of mine is
the youngest of my father. He told me also that I am the third girl to be born in the family
for several years. He told me also that I am the kind of a baby who is contented of what
my parents had. He said also that I love to sleep on the sofa with sounds. My uncle
remember the best events that happen in my life as I grew up when they celebrated my
fifth birthday celebration party with balloons and funny clowns. The funny thing that my
uncle remembers about me as I grew up is when I put the sugar in the tuba wine and
drink it as the result of falling down into the ground. I also knew that my uncle’s second
daughter was the second to take me in the school riding a motorcycle. He also
remembered when I was celebrating my sixth birthday celebration that was held in their
house because his eldest son was the sponsor. My uncle told me that I’m not fun of
writing letters, but I am fun of saying my gratitude to everyone who has contributed a lot
in my life. My uncle also reminds me, that the first house that we lived in Negros is the
old nipa house of my grandparent near to their house. One story also that my uncle told
me about me and my parents. It is, when my father wants me to stay in the house with
my mother and my brother’s will be the one to accompany him fishing at night. Because
my father won’t allow me to accompany him then I will cry very loud that night that our
neighbors deep sleep was disturb by me. Then the wife of my uncle would go to our
house and get me and she will give me some candies for me to stop crying. The best
story that my uncle told me is about my cousins that until now I also remember that we
are making fun of hanging out with friends. We love to go to the fish cage and there we
will catch fish. It is the time that my father first scolds me for doing that naughty thing.
My uncle remembered about my first confirmation in the church where my “ninang” and
“ninong” is one couple. The first gift that I received from them is the ripe guava that my
“ninong” personally handed it to me.
In the year two thousand, I and my family move back to Butuan City my mother’s
homeland. In Butuan I continue my elementary years and also in high school. I was
twelve years old when I graduated my elementary year at Obrero Elementary School. I
have received a lot of awards during this time. I am exactly thirteen years old when my
parents and my aunt decided to sent me to my aunt’s house who is a teacher in high
school. There I learn a lot of things during my high school days. My aunt is the one who
finance my needs in school. She provided me everything that I need in school. This is
the time also that my aunt introduce me to her swimming team and having me as one of
her new member swimmer. At that time, I won a lot of awards in swimming. At around
seventeen years old, I graduated in high school with medals. My aunt was so proud of
me that she wants me to be like her as a teacher someday. After graduating high
school, my uncle decided to send me to a bible school to know about God and have a
four scholarship in college. I was eighteen years old when I graduated my bible
schooling here in Tagum. After the graduation, I and my batch at the bible school take
the entrance examination in USEP. We’re glad that all of us had passed the
examination and the interview. We had undergone English Bridge Program because our
English result was very low. We all passed on that English Bridge Program. I enrolled
in the University of Southeastern Philippines taking the course Bachelor of Secondary
Education Major in English. I survived on my first year in college.
At present, now I am already nineteen years old. I am running twenty this coming
November 15, 2012. I am already a second year college taking the same course. I
might face difficulties in life but I would strive hard to achieve my goals in life in the
future. During this time, I am a sickly kind of a person. My body cannot survive long
studying lessons. I was already confined in a hospital during our one week intramural
meet. I am very sad at that time because that is the first time that I did not participate in
any event in the said program. After the intramural meet 2012 is the final examination
and it is very hard for me to study all the lessons and to pass those requirements of the
teachers. But I did it for my future. At this very moment while writing this story I suffered
a lot because my mother would always contact me to check if I sleep early or I take my
medicine. I am very tired of taking those medicines. Every day I’m hoping that my
recovery would work fast so that I can do all things without the assistance or laying
myself to other people. From now on, I would focus my attention to my study so that in
the future I will achieve my goals and to have a better life with my family.
We must not forget that in everything that we do there is God who helps us in
surviving those problems and trials that come unto our lives. I am hoping that you will
learn how to call God into your life as you grew up. “Being a professional teacher is not
a profession but it is a talent from God” that every one of us cannot do without His
guidance. So live life with God.
