Objective: Design an modern, modest, and inspiring weekend retreat. The project was inspired by Richard Myer and the Fibonacci series was
used to segment the interior and exterior space.
Method: Hand drafted with pen on mylar. Various model-building supplies were utilized.

Objective: Develop rendering techniques.
Method: Images were traced with pen on mylar and then copied onto borden riley paper. Makers, pastels, and colored pencils were used for
rendering.

Location:
Rick’s newly acquired spaces is
located on the 5th floor in a multi-
story Art Deco building in the
Garment District.
Design Inspiration:
The client requested that his Richard
Meier chaise lounge be a key
feature. The chaise’s harmonious use
of hard lines and curves is reflected
in the design of the handrail and
metal detailing above the dining
room. Meier’s simple and clean
design aesthetic was taken into
consideration when designing this
space. A vibrant color scheme was
used to emulate Rick’s rich Persian
heritage.

Client: Rick Larson is a single, 40 year old professional, who is the Creative Director for a New York Advertising company.
Objective: Design an efficient loft that will reflect Rick’s professional lifestyle and creative nature.

Location:
Allegheny Pediatrics is situated on the
banks of the Allegheny and Monoga-
hela rivers in downtown Pittsburgh
Pennsylvania.
Design Inspiration:
The name, as well as the curvilinear
motif originates from its location. The
fluidity of this motif promotes healing
and relaxation through youthful expres-
sion of color and form. Color theory
suggests cool colors are soothing,
calming, and restorative. For this reason
teal, blue, and violet are an essential
part to the color scheme.
Additional Information:
Numerous studies have concluded that
nature is indeed nurturing. It has the
power to heal, inspire, and shelter;
therefore many eco-friendly products
were used in the design of this clinic.

hattan Kansas in historic downtown on
the corner of 3rd street and Poyntz.
Design Inspiration:
The design is a comprehensive image
of Manhattan and its characteristics
which is intended to reunite the city
with its heritage. Local environmental
elements were the greatest inspiration
for color scheme, material selection,

The Cotton Challenge Fashion Show
was held in the Union Ballroom at
Kansas State University, Manhattan
Kansas.
Design Inspiration:
The set design was inspired by the
simplistic and versatile nature of cotton.
The logo is used at the focal point of the

are made of stretched cotton and

15. THE DETAILS
Location:
The LG kiosk is located in Millennium
Plaza at Coex Mall in Seoul Korea. The
plaza serves as a main entrance to
Samsung subway station (line No. 2) as
well as Coex.
Design Inspiration:
The kiosk seeks to be a physical repre-
sentation of LG’s goals and values by
preserving the integrity of the logo and
brand identity. The kiosk features LG’s
new 3D phone Optimus which serves as
the inspiration for the façade. 3D View 1
Additional Information:
The kiosk is designed to be decon-
structed for transportation through a Daytime View Millennium Plaza
standard set of double doors. It utilizes
solar power. An anthropometric analysis
was conducted to ensure that the kiosk
is accessible to a wide range of users.

munication and journalism department
at Kansas State University.
Design Inspiration:
The environment within the building
was very cold, chaotic, and cluttered.
Our team’s mission was to conquer the
chaos by providing visual order in a

Additional Information:

foster intrigue and creativity. Installa-
tions were designed to provide readily
accessible media, display student work,
announce current events, recognize
donors, and reflect on the history of

Services is located in the northern
portion of the East Memorial Stadium.
The stadium is adjacent to the Alumni
Center on the Kansas State University
Campus in Manhattan Kansas.
Design Inspiration:
The character concept of this space is
attributed to the playfulness of spring.
The design uses materials, color palatte,
and architectural forms to abstract the Reception View
natural environment. Spring is often Reception View
thought of as a time of growth and
abundance. C.E.S. acts as a liaison
between employers and students, and
as such assists students in their profes-
sional “growth”.
Additional Information:
A tour of the current C.E.S. space as well
as client meetings were conducted. This
design was completed at the schematic 2nd Floor Plan Color Plan
