Introduction:
The strength of an individual’s hair is determined by its health and several
different factors, which may affect it. Such as if a person uses a more expensive
shampoo with more chemicals in it, it might actually make their hair stronger. It
may also be as simple as if a person uses conditioner or not, or even the color or a
persons hair.
The purpose of this lab was to see what patterns or characteristics would be
shown in the results. Such it may be expected that a person with red hair would
have weaker hair then someone with dark black hair. The area of the head in which
the hair is pulled from could also make a small difference. Patters to be looking for
in the result would be what do the students with the strongest hair have in common,
and what the students with the weakest hair have completely different.
Materials and Procedure:
- Hair and Force Probe materials
First set up all the force probe equipment.
Second loop a hair over the force probe.
Third pull the hair straight down until it breaks.
Last record result in Newton’s.
Repeat 4 other times.

Conclusion:
After comparing all the students hair strength results the most obvious
difference between the students with strongest hair and the rest of the class was
that they were Asian, with dark thick black hair. The students with the weakest hair
had very light thin hair. This result was not shocking because these qualities actually
make seem valid. The result would be considered valid because many people would
have hypothesized this from the beginning. The quality of the experiment was very
good, because there was not much room for error and all the trials would give a
solid answer, which was then averaged out. Overall the result shows the thickest
and darkest are the strongest.
