4. What are kidney stones?
Your two kidneys work hard to keep things you
don’t need out of your blood (excretion). That
waste is combined with water and make your
pee. But sometimes the things in you pee (like
calcium) can make little crystals that become
hard stones. Depending on the size, these
kidney stones can be painful, cause blood in
urine, and block pee coming out of the kidney.
