2. What is the International
Space Station?
The International Space Station is a place in
space that allows people to live and study
in space for long periods of time. It is a
satellite in space where people can stay.
Interesting Fact: The
International Space
Station was livable in
April 2006
3. People started to plan to build the Space Station,
even before space rockets were invented.
In 1878, a scientist named Konstantin Tsiolkovsky
began to draw a diagram of a wheel shaped Space
Station. The first real Space Station was called
Salyut 1.
Interesting Fact: It can
orbit around Earth in 90
minutes at a speed of
17,500 mph.
4. Why the International Space
Station is being built
It will allow people to study space in microgravity.
It will give scientist the opportunity to study to
study a world of without gravity, and better
understand gravities effects on plant, animals, and
to study the effects on human.
It will allow them to study the effects of a long
journey in space.
Interesting Fact: The International
Space Station is going to cost over $60
billion!
5. Who is building the International
Space Station ?
There are 16 countries putting in efforts to build the
International Space Station and they are…….

Netherlands,Norway,Spain, Sweden,And Switzerland)
6. When The International Space Station
was built
The first piece was launched on November201998.
The American piece was launched on
December41998.
The International Space Station was scheduled to
be finished in 2006 but dangers pushed it back.
Interesting Fact:
The Space Station is
360 feet across & 290
feet long witch is as
big as a football field!
7. The first American space station, Skylab was
launched on May141973.It carried special
telescopes for studying Earth.
The Astronauts that live in the Skylab arrived in the
Apollo spacecraft. The Skylab was broken during
its launch, so the first crew spent most of their
time fixing it.They stayed for 28 days. In 1979,
the Skylab started to fall back to Earth and broke
into pieces.
