- M$ has recently stepped up the game and is now allowing developers to be able to interact with data stored in SharePoint easilyA product of this is the new App Model but also an emphasis on Mobile developmentSo much so that there is a default Visual Studio Template available to accommodate thisBut it is now possible to consume data from outside of SP much easierMy advice is that mobile apps are the way to go for Intranets simply because you can take a task driven approachThis is now possible and you can easily build an
- Out of the box there is better support for mobile devices with three distinct modesCan be enabled or disabled by Site AdminsEnabled by Default for: team site, blank site, document center and project site templates
- For the social capabilities that we will demonstrate latter there is a series of mobile apps that are being developedFor me the capability to use the social features of sahrepoint in a mobile scenario is a great enabler of providing value to organziationsIt is currently available on WP8 for download and well worth checking out
- You still need development skills to make this work but at least the tools are there now which is great

- First thing we have is a completely new newsfeed areaDifference between this one and SP2010 is the new tags, mentions and embedding of content capabilities that are availableAnother thing is also the ability to see people or content your are following, or everyone or mentions (this was not available in SP2010 since you could only see people that you follow)All conversations are searchable that become a great source of corporate knowledge throughout the organization
- In SP2010 you could only follow people so that you would see their activity in your activity feedSP2013 builds on this and allows you to people, docs, sites and tagsPeople: See peoples activities including status updates, conversations and so forthDocs: See updates to documents that you follow. Great way to keep track of content in one locationSites: IF newsfeed capability is turned on then you can post to this, also see the site directoryTags: Keep track of tagged conversations, you don’t have to be following people to be see the conversation. - In previous versions task lists where confined to where they were created, you couldn’t see a list of tasks across all the sites/lists that had them assigned to youNow you have a centralized task list that you can manage Great timeline feature lets you organize itemsIt can be really powerful especially if combined with the new PM management capabilities
