HTML5
• HTML5 is the latest version of the HTML open Web
  standard
  – The term is used loosely and often encompasses CSS3 and
    JavaScript
• HTML5 (together with CSS and JavaScript) lifts the
  restrictions of earlier HTML standards by natively
  supporting
     – Advanced graphics
     – Video and audio
     – Typography
     – Animations and many other interactive effects

Remember.....
• You need to support multiple browsers
      – IE6/7/8 still very common
• You need to support multiple device types (iPads leading
  the charge but others on the way including Windows 8
  tablets – end 2012)

  3. There’s lots of hype and lots of confusion surrounding HTML5. People often talk about “HTML5” even when they are really referring to HTML and JavaScript and CSS.Despite what you might read it’s not a panacea. The spec is undergoing revision which doesn’t help. Having said that, browser adoption of HTML5 continues at a rapid pace.With Flash no longer an option on mobile devices, you absolutely must consider HTML5 tools if you want to support mobile devices. HTML5 is simply the latest version of the HTML open Web standard with a number of important additions and new capabilities. HTML5 is a platform / device “leveller”.A common technology enabling content reuse across devices. Not the whole story though with many old browsers out there.   4. While Microsoft recently celebrated IE6 coverage going under 1% for the first time in the US (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-16408850), in Corporate UK land (i.e. big consumers of eLearning), use of IE6 and 7 is still fairly commonplace.
