  1. On the right is a display that was in the produce department of the local Sobey’s. We need to teach our students what it means for food to be “local.”
  2. We strive to teach our students the importance of food. From the first day they enter our building, students learn that food is central to the culture of our school and that we honour our local producers.
  3. The Cook Training students enjoy a locally produced lunch at the beginning of each semester. This gives the team a chance to get to know one another before we open the cafeteria and begin cooking for the rest of the schol.
  4. For our Local Harvest Dinner 2008, we took the students to a local farm to harvest the vegetables.
  5. The next night, the students prepared and served a delicious dinner for the community using the fruits and vegetables they had harvested. This is an annual fund-raiser for our Community Greenhouse.
  6. “ Local” can mean many things. It is important to expose all students to BC’s indigenous foods.
  7. Each year, a local landscaper delivers hundreds of pounds to the school. We turn them into apple sauce, apple butter, pies and more.
