Point of Work Risk Assessment Training
The Point of Work Risk Assessment is a work face risk assessment carried out by all
operatives involved in Fabricom work tasks. It is a supplement to the task risk assessment &
Permit to work where applicable!
This risk assessment must be completed at the work face to assess your work environment,
not in the mess-room?
Take 5 minutes to read through and complete the assessment. The first section is based on
the Fabricom cardinal rules. The second section is an evaluation of the task.
The assessment works on the traffic light principle, tick the appropriate box;
YES (Green) to proceed but keep alert
N/A (White/Orange) if not applicable
NO (Red) – STOP and inform your supervisor
When you carry out your personal point of work risk assessment;- Take a few minutes to
consider what you are about to do and question……..…what could go wrong?
The job itself and what is involved
How you will undertake the job safely
Have you got the correct tools & PPE for the task
Can you get to and from the job safely
Is the method of access to height safe
Who else is involved and what are they doing
What else is going on around you
Are you or anyone else in the line of fire
When complete all team members should sign to acknowledge that it is safe to proceed. Your
POWRA should remain at the work face for inspection by your supervisor or during a safety
audit. At the end of the shift hand your POWRA to your supervisor who will forward to the
safety dept. for inclusion in monthly safety report statistics.
Remember - It is a company requirement and a condition of employment that you must
complete a Point of Work Risk Assessment prior to starting any work task!
