Since 2017, the City of Alamo Heights has
worked with Barcom Technology Solutions to
ensure all city devices and software are efficient
within network management services
Current contract ended in February 2020
A three-year renewal that initiated a new proposed
contract
4. BACKGROUND
The proposed contract continues the same role for
Barcom Technology Solutions, who provides DIR
(Texas Department of Information Resources)
pricing and is a Buy Board vendor
Barcom also serves 2 other locations to include
Austin and Harlingen
IT service professionals that are Technical Support
staff; Account Managers; Service Support staff; Cisco
and Microsoft certified technicians; and application
development programmers
5. BACKGROUND
Barcom provides a proactive approach to 24/7
monitoring and a preventative maintenance service
program
Barcom effectively monitors 13 servers, 75 workstations,
and 52 network devices, 3rd party applications, network
routers, firewalls and switches to ensure optimal
performance
Barcom is familiar with City’s Public Safety Software
and Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS)
regulations
6. BACKGROUND
Sentinel One and Huntress are programs installed
as a proactive approach in cybersecurity
7. POLICY ANALYSIS
The City has complied with best practices by
following the Texas Government Code, Chapter
252 for purchasing by obtaining a proposal from a
Texas Buy Board and Texas Department of
Information Resources (DIR) vendor to manage and
maintain the City’s network infrastructure

Appropriations designated within the FY 2024
Annual Operating Budget for an annual cost of
$77,100/year for a three-year term
