COMPARATIVE AND SUPERLATIVE FORMS
• COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVES
We use comparative adjectives to compare two people, animals or things. We follow the
comparative adjective with than.
Example à You are better than me.
We form the comparative of short adjectives and long adjectives in different ways:

We use superlative adjectives to compare three or more people, animals or things. We use
the preposition in.
Example à This is the most comfortable sofa in the world.
We form the superlatives of short adjectives and long adjectives in different ways:
COMPARATIVE
Short adjective: CHEAP This car is cheaper than that one.
Long adjective: EXPENSIVE That car is more expensive than this one.
COMPARATIVE
One syllable adjectives + -er They are smaller than me.
Adjectives ending in -e + -r Snakes are larger than ants.
