•   Use a/an with the singular noun, the- with singular or noun in plural.
                             A cat- some cats
                             The cat- the cats

•  Use 'a' with nouns starting with a consonant (letters that are not vowels),
   'an' with nouns starting with a vowel (a,e,i,o,u) A boy

NOTE:
