"Surviving College: Promoting Numerical Literacy of English Language Learners and Minority Students." Deficient numerical literacy (innumeracy) is a gate keeper to college success. It is an endemic problem among students, particularly for English Language Learners and minority students. The presenters will share successful strategies and activities to promote college-level numerical literacy and critical thinking. This new set of skills will empower students to "survive college" by being better prepared and more confident to overcome academic challenges in a variety of disciplines.
