SEAOIL Philippines, Inc. vs. Petron Corporation
SEAOIL Companies was engaged in offering storage facilities for petroleum and petrochemical based
products. Soon after, it rapidly expanded its operation is having a retail station for oil market. Today, it
employs over 600 highly motivated and skilled personnel and constitutes over 4% of the country’s
annual downstream oil industry. Eventually, SEAOIL is aggressively constructing more services stations
and finding best strategic locations in order to have a consistent aim tracking to be the service station of
choice for the A, B, C, and D market segments in terms of oil distribution. As a Filipino-owned company,

Petron Corporation is the largest oil refining and marketing company in the Philippines. Supplying more
than a third of the country’s oil requirements and the world-class products and quality services fuel the
lives of millions of Filipinos. Petron operates refinery from crude oil into a full range of petroleum
products including LPG, gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, kerosene, industrial fuel oil, solvents, asphalts, and
mixed xylene. From refinery, Petron move their products mainly by sea to our 32 depots and terminals
situated all over the country. The power sector is their larger customer by supplying it nationwide. They
have more than 1,200 service stations and retail the gasoline, diesel, and kerosene to motorists and
public transport operators. The LPG brand Gasul sell to household and other consumers through an
extensive dealership network. And they also supply jet fuel at key airports to international and domestic
carriers. Now, they are engaged in non-fuel businesses like convenience store brand, major fast-food
chains, coffee shops, and other consumer services to give to their customers a non-stop full service
experience.
MERALCO, Inc. vs. Napocor
Manila Electric Company also known as MERALCO which means (ME)tro (R)egional (A)nggat (L)ightning
(CO)operative is the Philippines’ largest distributor of electrical power. Handling their vision is to be the
world-class company and the service provider of choice with their mission of providing best value in
energy, products and services to their customers. And now, MERALCO conducts the distribution and
supply of electricity to residential, industrial, commercial, and streetlights markets in the Philippines.
The company covers 34 cities and 77 municipalities and serves 9,337 sq km franchise area in Metro
Manila and surrounding provinces.
National Power Corporation also known as Napocor, is a government-owned and controlled corporation
that used to be the largest provider and generator of electricity in the Philippines. And it was also the
principal power provider for Manila Electric, the only power distributor in the Metro Manila area.
Napocor is one of the 2,120 firms in the country classified by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) under
the Large Taxpayers Service (LTS) which BIR reported that collection from LTS firms reached P775.23
billion last year which comprises over 60% of BIR’s total 2013 haul of P1.217 trillion.
PLDT vs. BayanTel, Inc.
Bayan Telecommunications, Inc. (BayanTel) is a telecommunication company serving areas in Metro
Manila, Bicol and local exchange service areas in the Visayas and Mindanao regions combined, cover a
population of over 25 million, nearly 33% of the population of the Philippines. As BayanTel says “we
strive to make a difference by offering products and services that bring out the best lives of the Filipinos.

Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company or PLDT is the largest telecommunications company in the
Philippines. “ Introducing HOME, the provider of trusted digital services that uses a powerful fiber
broadband to connect all your devices for seamless, simultaneous streaming. Enabling you to share
moments that bring your family closer together.” One corporate marketing strategy that should be
commended and encouraged is ongoing advertising campaign of PLDT mtDSL to promote its pricingbusting Plan 999 offer with wholesome and brainy young achievers as endorsers. The latest service
revenues reported for the months ended September 2013 rose by PHP 2.6 billion or 2% year-on-year to
PHP 121.6 billion, with net income rose by PHP 600 million or 2% to PHP 29 billion simultaneously.
