How a media product represents young female audiences
1. How does your media product represent
particular social groups?
2. In order for me to target the main audience for my magazine I had to
create a questionnaire to see which social group I wanted to focus on.
To get the correct type of target audience I mostly used the results
from my questionnaire so make sure the layout of my magazine was
something that they liked and something that they would be able to
relate to.
I found out from the results of my questionnaire that my target
audience was mostly female aged from 16-21 years old and as this is
the age bracket that I fall under I would then have to get the layout of
the magazine to be something that I like personally and something
that my peers like also.
From the results on my questionnaire I also found that the images that
I posted on social media sites that my target audience liked the most
were ones which were casual and with a pose and this automatically
attracted the viewers attention and this allowed for them to be able to
relate to the model.
3. I felt that also by having the camera facing the model
directly that it gave a good effect and allowed a more
personal touch on the magazine itself which would also
allow for my target audience to appreciate these photos
from all different settings and in all different angles.
I also found that some of the professional music
magazines with the more simple images tended to be the
most effective some music magazines I found this in are;
Q magazine
NME
Rolling Stones
Ker rang
MOJO
4. I have represented particular social groups by
including a model of the same age or in
around the age of the model.
As my target audience were
Young I tended to use some
Puffs to attract them to receiving something
free.
I also tended to use slang in my double page
spread article.
