Professional musicians listened to five violins being played without seeing the instruments. One was a Stradivarius violin and the others were modern. When asked to identify the Stradivarius, 43 correctly identified it while 123 got it wrong. A chi-square goodness of fit test was conducted to test the hypothesis that the experts were not simply guessing. The test statistic was 3.62 and the p-value was 0.057, indicating the experts were likely not simply guessing.
