C. Jesus spoke about the Holy
Spirit
The Holy Spirit is:
1) The Counselor, Teacher, and
Reminder of all things Jesus
has said (John 14:26)
“But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father
will send in my name, will teach you all things and will
remind you of everything I have said to you. “
John 14:26 (NIV)

2) The Spirit of Truth. He will
testify about Jesus (John
15:26)
“26 "When the Counselor comes,
whom I will send to you from the
Father, the Spirit of truth who goes
out from the Father, he will testify
about me.

3) The Holy Spirit will convict
the world of guilt in regard to
sin, righteousness and
judgment. (John16:7-11)
“7 But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away.
Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I
will send him to you. 8 When he comes, he will convict the world of
guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 in regard
to sin, because men do not believe in me; 10 in regard to
righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can
see me no longer; 11 and in regard to judgment, because the
prince of this world now stands condemned. “
John 16:7-11 (NIV)

4) He, the Spirit of Truth, will guide
us into all truth and will let us
know about things to come or
the future. (John16:12-15)
12 "I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear.
13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into
all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he
hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will bring
glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to
you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said
the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you.

D. What happened after Jesus
went back to heaven?
(Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4-5; Acts 2:1-2)
Luke 24:49 (NIV) “49 I am going to send you what my Father has promised;
but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high."
Acts 1:4-5 (NIV) “4 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he
gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my
Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John
baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy
Spirit."
Acts 2:1-2 (NIV) “1 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together
in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came
from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.”

GOD’S VOICE

Acts 2:14-36” 14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his
voice and addressed the crowd: "Fellow Jews and all of you who
live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what
I say. 15 These men are not drunk, as you suppose. It's only nine in
the morning! 16 No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17 "'In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all
people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men
will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. 18 Even on my
servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those
days, and they will prophesy. 19 I will show wonders in the heaven
above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of
smoke. 20 The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to
blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
21 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'

22 "Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man
accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which
God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. 23 This
man was handed over to you by God's set purpose and
foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to
death by nailing him to the cross. 24 But God raised him from the
dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was
impossible for death to keep its hold on him. 25 David said about
him: "'I saw the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right
hand, I will not be shaken.
26 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also
will live in hope, 27 because you will not abandon me to the grave,
nor will you let your Holy One see decay. 28 You have made known
to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.‘

29 "Brothers, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David
died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. 30 But he
was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that
he would place one of his descendants on his throne. 31 Seeing
what was ahead, he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he
was not abandoned to the grave, nor did his body see decay.
32 God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the
fact. 33 Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the
Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now
see and hear. 34 For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he
said, "'The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand 35 until I
make your enemies a footstool for your feet."‘ 36 "Therefore let all
Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you
crucified, both Lord and Christ."

GOD’S VOICE

Acts 4:8-13 8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them:
"Rulers and elders of the people! 9 If we are being called to account
today for an act of kindness shown to a cripple and are asked how he
was healed, 10 then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by
the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom
God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.
11 He is "'the stone you builders rejected, which has become the
capstone'. 12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other
name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.“ 13 When
they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were
unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note
that these men had been with Jesus. 19

12 The apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders
among the people. And all the believers used to meet together in
Solomon's Colonnade. 13 No one else dared join them, even though
they were highly regarded by the people. 14 Nevertheless, more
and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to
their number. 15 As a result, people brought the sick into the streets
and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter's shadow
might fall on some of them as he passed by. 16 Crowds gathered
also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and
those tormented by evil spirits, and all of them were healed.
Acts 5:12-16 (NIV)

3 As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light
from heaven flashed around him. 4 He fell to the ground
and heard a voice say to him, "Saul, Saul, why do you
persecute me?“ 5 "Who are you, Lord?" Saul asked. "I am
Jesus, whom you are persecuting," he replied. 6 "Now get
up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must
do.“ 7 The men traveling with Saul stood there speechless;
they heard the sound but did not see anyone.

27 During this time some prophets came down from
Jerusalem to Antioch. 28 One of them, named
Agabus, stood up and through the Spirit predicted
that a severe famine would spread over the entire
Roman world. (This happened during the reign of
Claudius.) 29 The disciples, each according to his
ability, decided to provide help for the brothers living
in Judea. Acts 11:27-29 (NIV)

10 After we had been there a number of days, a prophet named
Agabus came down from Judea. 11 Coming over to us, he took
Paul's belt, tied his own hands and feet with it and said, "The Holy
Spirit says, 'In this way the Jews of Jerusalem will bind the owner of
this belt and will hand him over to the Gentiles.'" 12 When we
heard this, we and the people there pleaded with Paul not to go up
to Jerusalem. 13 Then Paul answered, "Why are you weeping and
breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die
in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus." 14 When he would
not be dissuaded, we gave up and said, "The Lord's will be done."

6 They traveled through the whole island until they came to Paphos. There they
met a Jewish sorcerer and false prophet named Bar-Jesus, 7 who was an
attendant of the proconsul, Sergius Paulus. The proconsul, an intelligent man,
sent for Barnabas and Saul because he wanted to hear the word of God. 8 But
Elymas the sorcerer (for that is what his name means) opposed them and tried to
turn the proconsul from the faith. 9 Then Saul, who was also called Paul, filled
with the Holy Spirit, looked straight at Elymas and said, 10 "You are a child of the
devil and an enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit
and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the Lord? 11 Now
the hand of the Lord is against you. You are going to be blind, and for a time you
will be unable to see the light of the sun.“ Immediately mist and darkness came
over him, and he groped about, seeking someone to lead him by the hand.
12 When the proconsul saw what had happened, he believed, for he was amazed
at the teaching about the Lord. Acts 21:10-14 (NIV)

Acts 16:6-10 (NIV) “ 6 Paul and his companions traveled
throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by
the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia.
7 When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter
Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to. 8 So they
passed by Mysia and went down to Troas. 9 During the night Paul
had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him,
"Come over to Macedonia and help us." 10 After Paul had seen the
vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding
that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.”

11 The LORD said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD

rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an
earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the
LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he
pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said
to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?“ 14 He replied, "I have been very zealous for the LORD
God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, broken down your altars, and put your
prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me
too.” 15 The LORD said to him, "Go back the way you came, and go to the Desert of Damascus.
When you get there, anoint Hazael king over Aram. 16 Also, anoint Jehu son of Nimshi king over
Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah to succeed you as prophet. 17 Jehu
will put to death any who escape the sword of Hazael, and Elisha will put to death any who
escape the sword of Jehu. 18 Yet I reserve seven thousand in Israel--all whose knees have not
bowed down to Baal and all whose mouths have not kissed him." 1 Kings 19:11-18 (NIV)

That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you. John 16:12-15 (NIV) HEARING GOD’S VOICE BY Helen Coromina
  • 10. D. What happened after Jesus went back to heaven? (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4-5; Acts 2:1-2) Luke 24:49 (NIV) “49 I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high." Acts 1:4-5 (NIV) “4 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit." • 12. HEARING GOD’S VOICE BY Helen Coromina Acts 2:14-36” 14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: "Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. 15 These men are not drunk, as you suppose. It's only nine in the morning! 16 No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17 "'In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. 18 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. 19 I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. 20 The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. 21 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'
  • 13. HEARING GOD’S VOICE BY Helen Coromina 22 "Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. 23 This man was handed over to you by God's set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. 24 But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. 25 David said about him: "'I saw the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. 26 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will live in hope, 27 because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay. 28 You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.‘
  • 14. HEARING GOD’S VOICE BY Helen Coromina 29 "Brothers, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. 30 But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. 31 Seeing what was ahead, he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to the grave, nor did his body see decay. 32 God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact. 33 Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear. 34 For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said, "'The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand 35 until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet."‘ 36 "Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ."
  • 15. 2. Miraculous Healing (Acts 3:1-9; 19:11; I Cor.12:9) HEARING GOD’S VOICE BY Helen Coromina Acts 19:11 (NIV) “11 God did extraordinary miracles through Paul.” I Cor. 12:9 (NIV) “9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,”
  • 16. 3. Courage & Wisdom (Acts 4:8-13; 19) HEARING GOD’S VOICE BY Helen Coromina Acts 4:8-13 8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: "Rulers and elders of the people! 9 If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a cripple and are asked how he was healed, 10 then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. 11 He is "'the stone you builders rejected, which has become the capstone'. 12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.“ 13 When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus. 19
  • 17. 4. Boldness (Acts 4:31; 9:27-29; 14:3) HEARING GOD’S VOICE BY Helen Coromina Acts 4:31(NIV) ” 31 After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly. “ Acts 14:3 (NIV) “ 3 So Paul and Barnabas spent considerable time there, speaking boldly for the Lord, who confirmed the message of his grace by enabling them to do miraculous signs and wonders. “
  • 18. 5. Word of Knowledge (Acts 5:1-11; 1 Cor. 12:8) HEARING GOD’S VOICE BY Helen Coromina “8 To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,” 1 Cor. 12:8 (NIV)
  • 19. 6. Signs & wonders and miracles (Acts 5:12-16; 9:32-43;1Cor. 12:10) HEARING GOD’S VOICE BY Helen Coromina 12 The apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders among the people. And all the believers used to meet together in Solomon's Colonnade. 13 No one else dared join them, even though they were highly regarded by the people. 14 Nevertheless, more and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to their number. 15 As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter's shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by. 16 Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by evil spirits, and all of them were healed. Acts 5:12-16 (NIV)
  • 20. 7. Angel of the Lord (Acts 5:19-20; 8:26; 10:3-8; 12:6-12; 27:22-26; Judges 13:2-5; Rev. 1:1; 19:9; 22:6,8-9) HEARING GOD’S VOICE BY Helen Coromina 19 But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail and brought them out. 20 "Go, stand in the temple courts," he said, "and tell the people the full message of this new life."
