We will be talking about Web 2.o tools later in the session... Anyone used TodaysMeet? If so- tell us about it... This is a site that allows you to quickly create a "chat room" where people can interact in real time about a topic. Connect with your audience in realtime. Use TodaysMeet for each participant to introduce themselves: Name, school, content area, & tech level (expert tech junkie, intermediate, learning beginner, brand new) How could this be used in the classroom? Encourage people to use the live stream to make comments or ask questions and then use that feedback to tailor your presentation, sharpen your points, and address audience needs.
Hey Tiffany - Add any links you want to the conference wiki: I've set it up already: http://martininstitute.wikispaces.com/Teaching+with+Blended+and+Online+Learning+Environments

Students don’t always read directions or news items! Let’s Try it Go to PPT Search for Clipart or Photo suitable for background Insert Clipart or Photo Insert a text box with “news” information; make text box transparent You can use the whole slide if necessary Save As .jpg Go to D2L Add a News item; insert image Tip : If you teach the same course over and over, save all of your news items in a PPT so you can easily edit dates, etc.
Videos – Incorporate videos from Discovery Streaming and other web sites (get permission for those, of course!) Make your own – many tools out there Animoto Jing What if the video is in an unacceptable format? www.zamzar.com How to attach As an attachment Embed code As a Quicklink ( must have url) Let’s Try it Animoto Jing
Links - use to link to simulations, games, news articles, etc. Let’s Try it Choose Insert Quicklink in the text editor in News

Given the global nature of economy and industry, educators must teach our children to think and creatively solve problems with the intention that youth are prepared for innovation and the advancement of society. Necessity dictates that we cultivate the development of creative, skilled, life long learners. Whether physical or online, students who actively engage with content take responsibility for their own learning. Teachers who are well versed in technology, pedagogy and content no longer ask themselves “How do I use this technology?” Research recommends that teachers ask, "Why do I want to use this technology?“ Preparing students for jobs that currently do not exist. They must work in a global economy. The framework for 21 st century learning, America says that WE are falling short. Our students need to become problem solvers – to date we have been falling short….
