This educational philosophy values lifelong learning and professional development. The goal is to facilitate global awareness in students and help them see how they can enact positive change in their own lives and others. An authentic education fosters each student's talents and prepares them for future challenges. The core of this education develops self-efficacy by helping students understand their unique attributes and potential. The education system must constantly reevaluate itself to reflect societal changes and raise students to meet current and future challenges in both their education and society.
1. Statement of Educational Philosophy
My educational philosophy stems from my own passion for life long learning that
values learning for its own sake. This belief is at the heart of my educational practice and
drives my own desire for continued professional development. My role as an educational
leader is to facilitate a global awareness in students, enabling them to see the possible
changes that they can enact in their own lives and the lives of others. I believe an
authentic educational experience, in which each student’s talents are fostered, will
prepare students for the challenges that they will face when they leave our care. The
basis of this authentic education is the primary goal of facilitating each student’s self
efficacy, thus helping individuals to develop a clear understanding of their unique
attributes and individual potential.
At the core of an authentic and differentiated education there needs to be
awareness that education is a reflection of our society as a whole; hence, the education
system should constantly reevaluate its role and impact on society. Therefore, I
constantly seek new methods and ideas to facilitate student learning. To meet this
demand I regularly re-evaluate my professional standards and practices to meet the
challenges my students will face not only on their educational journeys, but also in
society as a whole.
Today’s educators must constantly evolve to raise to the challenges of changing
demographics, technology advances, and a growing post-secondary demand for
balanced, insightful individuals. My unique personal and professional experiences and
love of learning places me in a position to help St. Michaels University meet the
educational challenges of the 21st
century.
