Spring Break for Adults | Accent by Chubb

  1. 1. Spring  Break  for  Grownups   Plan  a  warm-‐weather  getaway  that’s  more  sophis4cated   than  wild.
  2. 2. When  you  picture  spring  breakers,  you  probably  imagine  20-‐ somethings  crashing  in  crowded  hotel  rooms  a?er  a  long  day   of  partying  at  beaches  and  bars.       Whether  this  par4cular  image  evokes  a  shudder  or  a  smile,   most  adults  can  agree  that  a  sun-‐drenched  adventure  should   not  be  the  exclusive  realm  of  the  young.       It’s  4me  to  reclaim  spring  break,  without  enduring  the  college   crowds.  (Plus,  as  adults,  we  can  treat  ourselves  to  nicer   restaurants  and  hotels.)       Here’s  our  guide  for  a  spring  break  getaway  for  the  young  at   heart.
  3. 3. You  may  not  be  interested  in  all-‐night  dance  par4es,  but   that  doesn’t  mean  you  can’t  savor  a  sense  of  adventure.   Skip  the  clubs  but  take  dance  lessons  instead.       If  that’s  not  your  taste,  sign  up  for  a  watery  adventure,   whether  it’s  chartering  a  boat,  cruising  in  a  sea  kayak  or   scuba  diving  in  a  reef.       Expedi4ons  for  landlubbers  include  hikes  and  bike  rides   through  scenic  landscapes.   Indulge  Your  Wild  Side
  4. 4. When  it  comes  to  crowds,  it’s  best  to  beware  the  ides  of   March.  Early  to  mid-‐March  is  the  prime  4me  for  college   co-‐eds  to  fill  the  beaches  while  schools  are  closed.     Skipping  the  high  season  will  give  you  a  trifecta  of   benefits:  smaller  crowds,  beMer  availability  and  lower   costs.  April  and  February  (with  the  excep4on  of   President’s  Day  weekend)  will  likely  be  a  much  beMer  bet.   Avoid  March
  5. 5. Notoriously  wild  spring  break  des4na4ons  include  Cancun,   South  Padre  Island,  Miami,  Key  West  and  Cabo.       And  during  spring  break  season,  the  seemingly  ubiquitous   culture  of  bikini  contests  and  frozen  drinks  can  seem  to   eclipse  everything  else  an  otherwise  en4cing  des4na4on   may  have  to  offer.       Save  these  spots  for  another  season,  and  instead  choose  a   warm-‐weather  loca4on  that  aMracts  a  more,  ahem,   sophis4cated  visitor.   Loca=on,  Loca=on,  Loca=on
  6. 6. Our  recommenda4on?  The  Caribbean.       Aruba  boasts  more  than  200  restaurants  of  surprisingly  varied  cuisine,  plenty  of   adult-‐only  hotels,  and,  of  course,  stunning  beaches  that  are  especially  good  for   exci4ng  high-‐octane  ac4vi4es  like  windsurfing.       The  Cayman  Islands  (Grand  Cayman,  Cayman  Brac  and  LiMle  Cayman)  offer  both   peaceful  nature  reserves  and  lively  modern  resorts,  not  to  men4on  strikingly  blue   waters  lined  with  so?  white  sand.       And  finally,  the  U.S.  Virgin  Islands  (St.  Thomas,  St.  John  and  St.  Croix)  is  a  world-‐ class  des4na4on  for  snorkeling  and  sailing  in  crystal  clear  waters.  Choose  St.  Croix   for  a  sense  of  quiet  escape,  St.  Thomas  for  gourmet  restaurants  and  luxe   shopping,  and  St.  John  for  hiking  and  kayaking.     Loca=on,  Loca=on,  Loca=on
