Vocabulary
There will be four major essays assigned this school year. Each of the words below are to be used
in the essay students will be writing. Words must be used and spelled correctly in the essay.
Essays 4+
Incorporate your choice of words from essays 1-3.
Essay 3:

2. steadfast (adj) – constant, not moving or changing
3. ample (adj) – more than enough, large
4. abashed (adj) – embarrassed, ashamed
5. devise (v) – to think out, plan, and figure out
Essay 2:
1. articulate (v) – to speak clearly and distinctly
2. convey (v) – to communicate (a message, information, etc.)
3. delve (v) – research deeply or intensively
4. naïve (adj) – having or expressing innocence
5. relevant (adj) – bearing upon or connected with the matter in hand

1. vex (v) – to annoy or agitate someone
2. perturb (v) – to trouble, make uneasy, or disturb
3. outlandish (adj) – strange, exceeding reasonable limits
