This is my final research work I embarked during my BBA final year studies. The world is now considered to be a knowledge economy in which organizations’ sharing and creation of knowledge form an important role in integration and innovation. Knowledge creation is recognized as strategically important organizational learning and innovation tool. Knowledge can be created through a continuous dialogue process between tacit and explicit knowledge, as well as through four patterns, namely; interactions or socialization, combination, internalization and externalization. The research problem was based on the fact that knowledge can become obsolete, so it is imperative that knowledge creation and management is a continuous process enabling efficient and effective business practices.

Your Challenge Infrastructure, by focusing on the reliability, availability, and serviceability of existing platforms, is perceived as a cost center rather than a business enabler. Business stakeholders look to external vendors, rather than Infrastructure, to exploit emerging technologies. This leads to duplication of effort, inconsistent standards, and ineffective IT governance. Infrastructure directors are unable to draw a line showing how their activities directly support the overall business goals. Our Advice Critical Insight Think of the roadmap as a service, not a product. Its value is inversely proportional to the time since its last update. Alignment perception issues can be addressed by having the infrastructure practice formally engage and communicate with business stakeholders. Shadow IT can provide business-ready initiatives that need only to be tweaked to align with Infrastructure’s internal goals. Impact and Result This blueprint will help you build: A formal channel and way of communicating value bottom-up and top-down between IT and the executive team. A methodology to prioritize and create projects that generate business value. A tool that can produce multiple outputs of value for different audiences using the same data. An ongoing roadmap process, rather than a static document, that is able to adjust and react to evolving business circumstances.

This describes a systematised and structured approach to solution acquisition or procurement that involves solution architecture from the start. This allows the true scope of both the required and subsequently acquired solution are therefore fully understood. By using such an approach, poor solution acquisition outcomes are avoided. Solution architecture provides the structured approach to capturing all the cost contributors and knowing the true solution scope. There is more packaged/product/service-based solution acquisition activity. There is an increasing trend of solutions hosted outside the organisation. Meanwhile solution acquisition outcomes are poor and getting worse. Poor solution acquisition has long-term consequences and costs. The to-be-acquired solution needs to operate in and co-exist with an existing solution topography and the solution acquisition process needs to be aware of and take account of this wider solution topography. Cloud-based or externally hosted and provided solutions do not eliminate the need for the solution to exist within the organisation solution topography. Strategic misrepresentation in solution acquisition is the deliberate distortion or falsification of information relating to solution acquisition costs, complexity, required functionality, solution availability, resource availability, time to implement in order to get solution acquisition approval. Strategic misrepresentation is very real and its consequences can be very damaging. Solution architecture has the skills and experience to define the real scope of the solution being acquired. An effective structured solution acquisition process, well-implemented and consistently applied, means dependable and repeatable solution acquisition and successful outcomes.

It would be difficult to find a school district today not preoccupied with technology tools and digital learning. However, despite their best efforts, many school districts have fallen victim to botched rollouts and ineffective strategies that have wasted time and money — and hurt their reputations with students and parents. This guide from the Center for Digital Education looks at the key elements of a successful digital education transformation, focusing on the 3 Cs of conversion, curriculum and collaboration.

In BC’s nearly-decade-old “new” curriculum, the curricular competencies describe the processes that students are expected to develop in areas of learning such as mathematics. They reflect the “Do” in the “Know-Do-Understand” model. Under the “Communicating” header falls the curricular competency “Explain and justify mathematical ideas and decisions.” Note that it contains two processes: “Explain mathematical ideas” and “Justify mathematical decisions.” I have broken it down into its separate parts in order to understand--or reveal--its meaning. The first part is commonplace in classrooms. By now, BC math teachers—and students—understand that “Explain mathematical ideas” means more than “Show your work.” Teachers consistently ask “What did you do?” and “How do you know?” This process is about retelling, not just of steps but of thinking. The second part happens less frequently. Think back to the last time that you observed a student make—a necessary precursor to justify—a mathematical decision. “Justify” is about defending. Like “explain,” it involves reasoning; unlike “explain,” it also involves opinion and debate. In order to reinterpret the curricular competency “Explain and justify mathematical ideas and decisions,” I will continue to take apart its constituent part “Justify mathematical decisions” and carefully examine the term “mathematical decisions.” What, exactly, is a “mathematical decision”? Below, I will categorize answers to this question. These categories, and the provided examples, may help to suggest new opportunities for students to justify.
