Family Life Cycle<br />This connection among generations reflects oscillation of the family system from developmental periods of family closeness (centripetal) to periods of relative distance (centrifugal).<br />When illness occurs during a centripetal period, the family may be more easily mobilized to care for the ill member than it is during a centrifugal period.<br />
