   1. Choose the job above that you are most interested in and explain why it
       appeals to you:
I was interested in the job tasks of a journalist; I love English and researching news
and information. It would be exciting to travel to find new and holding interviews for
   different people I don’t know.

                                                                                            3
2. Describe the skills that you think may be required to excel at this job and say
       why they are important.
I think you would need to be good with grammar because writing articles consist of
neat, readable sentences and words. I think if you want to be a journalist you need to
be determined and demanding to find out important facts and statistics that may
interest your audience. I also think you need to be self-less because sometimes you
need to sacrifice sociable/personal events to go to a scene and report on the event.

   3. What are the main Do’s and Don’ts of the job?
The main do’s of being a journalist is be punctual and on task, to find out certain
information you should research more than once and use successful, trustworthy sources.
Another thing is that you should state your sources e.g. websites. The main do not’s of
being a journalist is to not make up facts and figures. In certain articles you need to not
be bias or add your opinion. Another don’t of being a journalist is not to use it for your
own benefit for instance writing an article on a celebrity that’s negative just because you
don’t like them.
   4. Does the job involve issues of risk and health and safety? Explain.
Sometimes you have to go and report on scenes that are dangerous but you’ve just got
to handle it and be as safe as you can to ensure that both you and the research are able
   to report.

   5. Is this a very competitive job market? Are there usually many vacancies for
       such a post?
Yes, I believe it is a competitive market many journalists are needed for newspapers
or magazines and sometimes websites. It is an exciting, high-paid job that many
   people are interested in.

   6. Are most people in this job free lancers or regular salary workers, or is it
       balanced?

                                                                                              4
I think that it isn’t balanced, many journalists work for newspapers, magazines, and
websites etc. free lancers need their work to be published which is hard in this
  industry.
  7. a) Why do you think that you are right for the job?
I think I would be good for the job because I am organised and punctual. I can meet
deadlines and I am very serious and determined to get facts that I want and need I can
research on any subject and can notice whether I am using a safe source. I can report
and write short, precise, relevant articles that interest a target audience. I am also
willing to give up my time to do my job.
      b) Evaluate your readiness for this job. What skills do you need to develop?
What other kinds of preparation do you need to make for this job?
I need to develop my listening skills in order to get the right information on a
subject I also need to prepare to devote most of my time to fulfil my job tasks.

Use the grid below to list organisations you know that employ people for this
job. If you know the name of anyone who has been a big success at this job, then
list his/her/their name(s) in the second column.

Choose the job above that you are most interested in and explain why it appeals to you: I was interested in the job tasks of a journalist; I love English and researching news and information. It would be exciting to travel to find new and holding interviews for different people I don’t know. 3
  • 4. 2. Describe the skills that you think may be required to excel at this job and say why they are important. I think you would need to be good with grammar because writing articles consist of neat, readable sentences and words. I think if you want to be a journalist you need to be determined and demanding to find out important facts and statistics that may interest your audience. I also think you need to be self-less because sometimes you need to sacrifice sociable/personal events to go to a scene and report on the event. 3. What are the main Do’s and Don’ts of the job? The main do’s of being a journalist is be punctual and on task, to find out certain information you should research more than once and use successful, trustworthy sources. Another thing is that you should state your sources e.g. websites. The main do not’s of being a journalist is to not make up facts and figures. In certain articles you need to not be bias or add your opinion. Another don’t of being a journalist is not to use it for your own benefit for instance writing an article on a celebrity that’s negative just because you don’t like them. 4. Does the job involve issues of risk and health and safety? Explain. Sometimes you have to go and report on scenes that are dangerous but you’ve just got to handle it and be as safe as you can to ensure that both you and the research are able to report. 5. Is this a very competitive job market? Are there usually many vacancies for such a post? Yes, I believe it is a competitive market many journalists are needed for newspapers or magazines and sometimes websites. It is an exciting, high-paid job that many people are interested in. 6. Are most people in this job free lancers or regular salary workers, or is it balanced? 4
  • 5. I think that it isn’t balanced, many journalists work for newspapers, magazines, and websites etc. free lancers need their work to be published which is hard in this industry. 7. a) Why do you think that you are right for the job? I think I would be good for the job because I am organised and punctual. I can meet deadlines and I am very serious and determined to get facts that I want and need I can research on any subject and can notice whether I am using a safe source. I can report and write short, precise, relevant articles that interest a target audience. I am also willing to give up my time to do my job. b) Evaluate your readiness for this job. What skills do you need to develop? What other kinds of preparation do you need to make for this job? I need to develop my listening skills in order to get the right information on a subject I also need to prepare to devote most of my time to fulfil my job tasks.
