  1. Top Tips : Text on slides should be kept to a minimum – less is more! As a general rule, a max of 5 lines per slide and 5 words per line Use single word prompts and provide more detail for the trainer to feed-in in the trainer’s notes Use the handout for long quotes, texts and suggested answers Use visuals where possible Keep animation to a minimum (essentials only), and use one simple type only e.g. dissolve in or appear Use ‘holding’ slides for tasks and activities – this is a blank slide or a slide with just a heading that can be up while participants are working on tasks.
  2. So now before we go any further, let’s make sure that we all know each other.
  3. The main aim of the training is to enable you to explore the 3 courses, understand how they work and how they link together. We are going to explore the courses by looking at a variety of topics concerning language learning. So as we cover a different aspects you will gradually become familiar with the books, and also we expect that you will build up you own questions and your own ideas about the material. Please look at the agenda to see the topics that we will be covering. (2 mins to run thru the agenda)
  4. So at the end of the training we hope that you will be able to: Any questions about the agenda?
  5. The outcome of the training: One thing that we would like to draw your attention to is the final slot which involves a poster display / presentation. This is not a test, but is an activity that should form a consolidation of what we have been covering over the 4 days. You will be able to work in groups, we will prepare during the sessions and it will be another opportunity to raise issues, voice your opinion etc about the course or teaching English in general.
  6. Give the supervisors an opportunity to have a hands on with the books. Can divide into groups and give 1 course each, or divide into groups and give all 3 courses for them to discuss. They should find the components on the back of the book. Then a bit a looking into the book to find features. This activity is designed to let them explore and get to know the books. Consolidate with whole group discussion. See the summary on the next slides for an overview of the outcomes of each course
  7. The outcomes of the course – what will students be able to do at the end of each course? They will be starting with little or no knowledge of English. When they finish grade 6, they will be able to …..
  8. If there is time, then more detailed look at Step up ….
  9. .
