- - These photographs act to represent recent news events through an image or a series of images. - The practice of photojournalism must always be a fair and accurate one – The most obvious one of these is that there must not be elements that were added into the photo after it was taken. But also, the photo must also represent the subject in a fair context.Photojournalism adds to a public discourse of news which affects the public’s way of seeing recent news events.The photojournalist must keep all this in mind in order to create the most effective and fair image for each news story. With all this in mind, he or she must make instant decisions in how to take a certain photo and with what photographic equipment for a certain event as the event unfolds.Photojournalism is a never-ending practice and people will always need good visuals when it comes to news
- Lively : The picture has action and expression. P1: These expressions must be very unique in order to become the main aspect of the picture. The photographer is always looking for something that is out of the ordinary, something that we don’t see everyday. P2: The action of a picture should also be unique. Big body actions are usually very eye catchy and can become the main aspect of the picture if the action is unique enough. Photography can also freeze an action and show in detail how the subject was moving at the millisecond. Cameras can also show motion blur and this blur of motion can very effectively represent an action. P3, The details of expression and action can also be emphasised by the photographer if he or she makes it the biggest aspect of the picture, in other words, zooming in. By enlarging the action or expression, the photo becomes more concentrated and the picture can become more lively because of this.Perspective: The picture doesn’t only show and represent the subject, but it also shows extra detail which aids in adding depth to a story. P1: The picture can do this by placing a subject that is out of place with the rest of the picture. This adds interestingness into the picture and into the interpretation of the events that occurred. P2: The viewer is given a series of visual options so that he or she may have a better understanding of the news event. P3: The way you frame a subject can also add perspective to a story. The way that a person is visually portrayed can add more meaning to the story, of course, this visual representation should be a fair representation. Unique: The picture captures a very unique subject or captures a fleeting moment that one doesn’t always see. P1 and P2:In order to capture this, the photographer must always be on a very high sense of alert and be ready to capture anything at anytime in any situation. P3: Sometimes in order to take a unique photo, one should think creatively. One way of taking a unique photograph is to portray a subject or an object in a way that it is not normally seen or though of.
- When the photojournalist takes a photo, he or she should always think about the basic aspects of what makes a photograph a photograph.C/P: The composition of a picture is a lot stronger when there are visible shapes in the picture.For example, pictures that have visible geometric shapes tend to be a much stronger visual composition. P1: In many cases, shapes can also help tell the story more effectively. The photographer can do this by constantly searching for geometric shapes that appear in our everyday physical space. P2: These shapes can also be found in the formation of people. Geometric shapes can naturally lead the eye to the most important part of the picture.A/E: Like in lively pictures, action and expression is something that can make a picture interesting. P1: The action and expression of a subject only happens for a short period o time, in order to capture this, the photographer should be in place and have the shot framed and ready in order to capture the expression. Contrast: Photos with two different subjects can be interesting. P1: The two different subjects can provide an interesting perspective and the two different actions can compliment one another. P2: Contrast also works when the photograph brings together two subjects that otherwise would not be seen together. This makes for an interesting composition.
- The photographer should constantly be looking for the three things I mentioned before. Always on the lookout for great expressions, always on the lookout for good action and for ways of framing the details in the picture.Should always be looking for different ways of framing, always thinking to yourself, is there a better way of framing this picture? Is there a better way to portray the subject?
