Company Profile: The Narmada Control Authority (NCA) has been setup under the final orders
and decision of the Narmada Water Disputes Tribunal (NWDT) as machinery
for implementation of its directions and decision. The authority started
functioning from 20th December, 1980.
The authority is a body corporate with representatives of the four States of
Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and representatives of
Govt. of India. The authority is funded in equal proportions by all the four
states. Secretary (Water Resources), Govt. of India is the ex-officio Chairman
of the Authority, whereas the routine administration is the responsibility of
Executive Member of the Authority. NCA presently has six subgroups. The
Narmada Control Authority has its headquarters at Indore.
Duties and Responsibilities:
 Load Despatch Engineer in Round The Clock Shift Operation for
 Preparation of daily plant report of Sardar Sarovar Project-SSP
(CHPH-250 MW & RBPH-1200MW) based on daily hydrological
data form flood cell, previous day’s power generation data of SSP
(CHPH & RBPH), OSP and ISP from SSP & ISP control room
respectively.
 Preparation of daily declared capacity (D.C.) based on the
water allocated and the directions issued by SSRRC secretariat,
water requirement of GOG & GOR, in consultation with SE (EMC).
 Based upon the hydrological data and calculation of quantum
of water available decide generation for the day and schedule SSP
RBPH machines (1200MW) as per demand of Madhya Pradesh,
Maharashtra and Gujarat.

2.  Allocation of Power generated at Sardar Sarovar Hydro Electric
Power Complex (SSHEP) (Total Installed Capacity of 1450 MW) to
the Concerned Party States.
 Decide Generation, Declare Capacity and Machine Hours of
next day taking into account the Dam-Reservoir level, Live Storage,
Inflow, Outflow and Environmental factors etc.
 Coordination with WRLDC for running of SSHEP machines.
 Coordination with WRLDC for safe and secure INDIA Grid
Operation.
 Continuous Monitoring of Grid and Reservoir Water Level
condition to ensure Safe Operation of Total Installed Capacity of 1450
MW at SSHEP under the provisions of Narmada Water Dispute Tribunal
(N.W.D.T.) Award and Indian Electricity Grid Code (IEGC).
 Continuous Monitoring of Line loading’s &line Voltages and
other transmission Line Parameters and also careful watch over Grid
frequency for secure operation of INDIA Grid.
 Regional Energy accounting for the Energy Generated at SSHEP.
 Monitoring of O&M aspects & system parameters and energy accounting
of SSP complex, Kevadia in coordination with EMC, Indore.
 Knowledge of Narmada Water Disputes Tribunal (NWDT) Award.
 Knowledge of Indian Electricity Grid Code (IEGC).
 Handling of SSP related Matters with Central Electricity Regulatory
Commission (CERC).
 Perform qualitative analysis related to SSP through presentations and
seminars.
 Monitoring of 400kV Transmission System
Projects Undertaken:
 Development of “Best-Fit Scheduling” Methodology to modify the present
Scheduling Procedure to fulfill the Load-Demand of Concerned party States.
 Software Development in MS-Excel for “Best-Fit Scheduling”
Methodology.
 Worked at SSP Dam Site for RTU Installation.

3.  Modification in Energy Accounting Process for beneficiary states of Sardar
Sarovar Project as Per “Best Fit Scheduling” Procedure for SSP.
 Development of Software for REA Accounting in MS-Excel.
Achievements :
 Representative of NCA in the Commercial Committee Meeting of
WRLDC (Western Regional Load Despatch Centre) at Mumbai.
 Familiarization of SCADA system and Control Room Operation at
National Load Dispatch Centre (NLDCs) and in Western Load
Dispatch Centre (WRLDC,PGCIL) , Mumbai .
 Official visit toOmkareshwar power Hydro Power Project , Indira
Sagar Hydro Power Project for familiarisation of working of NHDC
Hydro Plants.
 A good record of maintaining the issues related to the Transfer of
Power generated at SSHEP Complex among party States (Gujarat ,
Madhya Pradesh , Maharashtra) of NCA.
 Official visit to meet with Officers and Personnel at State Load
Despatch Centre of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra for
understanding of “Best-Fit Scheduling” Methodology.
 Attended workshop at CPRI Bhopal on Electrical Maintenance of
Substation Equipments.
