  • 3. A C C E S S T O T H E I N T E R N E T Internet first became accessible in 1991 Hit its first billion users after 14 years in 2005 Quadrupled to over 4.3 billion after the next 14 years (Statista, 2017)
  • 4. A C C E S S T O T H E I N T E R N E T Over half of the world’s population use the internet today 3.484 billion are accessing it to use various social media platforms Watch this link to see how many people are accessing the internet every second (Hootsuite, 2019).
  • 5. D I G I T A L D E V I C E S 78% of people in the UK own a mobile device Ownership of Desktop PCs has dropped 40% in the past 10 years (Statista, 2019).
  • 6. C O N S U M E R T R E N D S Technology has vastly evolved in the past 5 years Face-to-face conversations Hand-written letters Waiting by the phone No longer common ways to communicate Using impersonal technologies to continue being personable Concept of constant connection is what drives technology consumption Talk-to-text Bluetooth Messaging apps Facetime Today’s most common ways to communicate

  • 10. H O W C O N S U M E R S S E A R C H Information on the internet is now at our fingertips Search engine giants like Google help us find what we want in seconds 50% of consumers will go straight to the retailer’s website The other 50% will start with a search engine (ClickZ, 2018)
  • 11. T E C H N O L O G Y C H A L L E N G E S Marketing Mix Changes & Challenges People Losing their jobs to technology Promotion Traditional marketing is dying up against digital marketing Price Brands lowering prices to keep up with competition Place Brick and water stores are closing
  • 12. V I D E O C O N S U M P T I O N Videos on the internet will account for 79% of global internet traffic by 2020 This is up 14% from 2015 (Multichannel, 2019)
  • 13. V I D E O C O N S U M P T I O N Advertising is one of the biggest drivers for online videos As advertising on TV is decreasing, advertising through online video is increasing (Marketing Charts, 2019)
  • 14. S U M M A R Y In 2018, this is what happened in one minute across the internet Australians are mobile obsessed, with more phones than people and two thirds of the population on Facebook (Twitter, 2019) (Juicebox, 2020)
