1. Help your employees
drive clean electric cars
WORKPLACE
CHARGING
Oregon businesses are ahead of the curve when it comes to
helping the environment and supporting employees who want
to make healthy, sustainable commuting choices. Many
employers already offer bike racks and subsidize transit
passes. Now your company can be a part of the next big thing
in sustainable commuting: electric vehicles! Oregon is a
leader in the rapidly growing electric car market, and
providing charging stations is a cost-effective way to help
your employees and the environment.
Electric car sales are growing fast. Oregon is already a
leader, and expects to see electric vehicle registrations
increase twenty-fold in the next ten years.
Now your company can demonstrate its leadership in growing
Oregon’s electric vehicle market while supporting the clean
transportation choices of your employees.
2. DEMONSTRATE SUSTAINABILITY
Electric cars produce no air pollution and about 60% fewer greenhouse gas
pollutants than vehicles that use gasoline1
, and studies show that employers
with charging have employees who are 20 times more likely to buy an electric
car2
. By supporting these clean cars, your business can show your employees,
customers, and the public that you support clean air, a sustainable environment,
and reduced dependence on imported fossil fuels. Charging stations may also be
counted toward various sustainability certifications, government programs, and
green building programs. Drive Oregon can tell you more.
ATTRACT AND KEEP GREAT EMPLOYEES
The best employees want to work for creative, forward-thinking companies.
Workplace charging demonstrates that your company supports sustainable
choices while providing a valuable service for your employees. It also helps your
employees save money – many electric cars can be leased for $199/month or
less, and electric “fuel” costs the equivalent of $1/gallon. With 93% percent of
drivers commuting less than 35 miles one-way to work each day,3
switching to an
electric vehicle could save your employees $1,000 or more each year.
GAIN NATIONAL ATTENTION
Participating employers can join the US Department of Energy Workplace
Charging Challenge, gaining a listing on the USDOE website as a Workplace
Charging Challenge Partner and other positive national visibility. Drive Oregon is
an Ambassador for this program and can walk you through filling out the simple
one page pledge form.
LET US HELP
Find out how easy and affordable it is to provide charging at your workplace.
Some vendors offer contracts with zero upfront costs; grants, state, and federal
tax credits can help offset many other costs. It is up to you whether you provide
charging for free or charge a small fee. Drive Oregon, an independent nonprofit
organization, can walk you through your options and provide resources to help
streamline the process.
