Why Xi’ An is called city of history?

Tang Dynasty (唐)
○ A golden age of Chinese arts and culture (especially Tang poets)
○ Tang Poets has a great influence to the past and present chinese
education. One of the best remembered Poet is LiBai.
○ Attracted an international reputation that spilled out of its cities and
through the practice of Buddhism.

○ First and the only empress Wu in Chinese History, known as Wu Zetian
○ During the ruling of Wu, female social position had improved a lot.

able to get education, divorce and remarriage was common.
On March 29, 1974, farmers drilling a well 25 kilometres from Xian unearthed fragments of pottery. They had stumbled across the Terracotta Army, thousands of sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, China’s first emperor. Their purpose was to protect the emperor in the afterlife and they were buried with him between 210 and 209BC.
