Rotary International is a globally recognized volunteer organization of business and
professional leaders who provide humanitarian service and help to build goodwill and
peace in the world. There are approximately 1.2 million Rotary club members belonging
to 34,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Rotary
clubs exist to improve communities through a range of humanitarian, intercultural and
educational activities. Clubs advance international understanding by partnering with
clubs in other countries. Rotary also encourages high ethical standards in all vocations.
Rotaract is an acronym for ‘Rotary in Action’ and the Rotaract movement was
formed to tap the energy and exuberance of the youth. Rotaract Clubs promote
professionalism by ensuring interaction between a college fresher and professionals
from various walks of life. Comprising of College and Community based Club’s,
Rotaract Clubs are spread across 105 countries with over 1.7 lakh Rotaractors.
With 10% of the global Rotaract strength of Rotary International District 3230, the
volunteers and members of this movement believe in bringing out a positive change
- TOGETHER. Rotaract Clubs have been instrumental in spreading awareness about
Rotary International’s flagship projects over the years. Rotary International District 3230
is comprised of clubs in and around Chennai.
Managing and administering an organization with a
strength exceeding 20,000 is never easy. The District
Rotaract Council is formed every year to serve as a
medium for uniting the clubs in the district and a tool
for springing up new clubs. Members of this council
commit themselves to a higher level of service and
devotion to Rotaract and the entire Rotary family.
These dedicated individuals play an integral part in the
history of a blossoming district and progress by getting
feedback from their fellow Rotaractors. The District
Rotaract Council organizes a number of events every
year to facilitate member interaction and professional
development. The District Assembly and the Annual
District Rotaract Conference are two of the most
awaited events every year.
The Word ‘Conference’ symbolises a gathering where Rotaractors
from different walks of life and from different clubs come together
to share information about the Rotaract movement and about
the various service projects undertaken by their respective clubs.
YBRANT has already generated huge response from Rotaractors
and is expected to host more than 1500 Rotaractors during the 2
day extravaganza.
Some of the highlights of our conferences include Sessions on
Personality development, Current Affairs, Debate, Business &
Cultural Presentations, Light Music and Entertainment for the
delegates through professional performances.
Every Organization has a past and through the ages there have been numerous individuals who have achieved something that no
one else has dared to dream. Rotaract, as an organization in Chennai dates back to the 80’s and for the past three decades there
have been some really outstanding contributions both to and from the movement. The Annual District Rotaract Conference is an
ideal platform for the Rotaract movement to acknowledge and honour such individuals through two awards – ‘Example to Youth
Award’ and ‘Icon of Rotaract Award’
The Example to Youth Award is instituted to a person who has proven to be an example to the youth by means of their service to
the community through Professional Prowess and Personal Commitment. This is a very special award that is given to an individual
who has inspired a generation of youngsters and has been responsible in changing lives of today’s youth. The past recipients
of this award have been illustrious personalities in different fields of work showcasing passion, dedication and commitment in
whatever they do.

Icon of Rotaract is another special award that honours an individual who has not
only inspired the members of the Rotaract Movement but has also taken an effort
to put service before self no matter what he/she has achieved. This award aims at
recognizing individuals within the Rotary and Rotaract family who have contributed
towards the growth of the movement and helped in making it the Number 1 District
in the world.
COLLEGE PARTICIPATION
The Rotaract movement provides an opportunity for students from top colleges in and around Chennai to come together and share
their experiences through social interaction. The Annual District Rotaract Conference plays host to some of the reputed and top
colleges in Chennai.

CORPORATE PARTICIPATION
Rotaract provides the much needed bridge between the youthful energy of freshers who enter their college life and experienced
professionals who are beginning to find their feet at the corporate world. Once Rotaractors graduate, they can join community
based clubs where corporate professionals guide them both in and out of the movement. Representatives from the following
Corporates have attended the Conference - Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Saint
Gobain, Mahindra Satyam, L&T, Renault Nissan, Ford, Hyundai, Invensys, CSS Corp, TVS, Ashok Leyland and a long list of
Entrepreneurs owning some reputed firms including RR Constructions, Amoeba Media Eventz, 7Trix and many others.
Historically, Rotaract in Chennai has been a revolution with more than 10% of the global Rotaract strength being from District 3230,
comprising of major colleges within Chennai and adjoining districts of Tamil Nadu.
Rotaract in Chennai has been at its peak for the past two decades with the Annual District Rotaract Conference being the marquee
event with participation of more than 1000 Rotaractors. Rotaract in Chennai has hosted and organized the following events every

All these events have participation from top colleges in and around Chennai. Community based clubs also invoke participation from
leading corporate houses.
Having seen the energy and enthusiasm among the Rotaractors of 3230, the Rotary International President, Rtn Ron D Burton
recently organized the first ever Rotary International Presidential Conference on New Generations in Chennai earlier this year. As
part of the RI Presidential Conference on 5th and 6th October we organized a series of Service Projects.
‘The Worlds Biggest Hi-5’ – A Guinness World Record Attempt
There can never be a better way to show unity of the youth than by coming together. The Rotaractors of RI District 3230 proved
that by organizing the worlds biggest Hi-5 formation of the human hand with 8500 members of the movement. This Guinness
attempt received a lot of media attention and a lot of positive feedback was given towards the causes it supported.
SHIKSHA – The CHANGE Libraries
This was a visionary project initiated by the District Rotaract Council. 1 week before the Presidential Conference, the SHIKSHA
team stationed at Phase III Spencers plaza started collecting books towards setting up libraries in various government run schools
and NGO’s. We collected more than 5 Lakh books during the 7 day run up to the Conference and these books will be a huge step
towards creating a more literate future India.
Trio Rally
The trio rally was another major service project planned and executed by the Rotaract movement with three different rally’s marking
three different causes, with the walkathon focusing on END POLIO NOW, the cycle rally focusing on HELMET awareness and the
Rickshaw rally focusing on GO GREEN. The trio rally saw participation from more than 4000 Rotaractors who lined up along the
marine stretch.
Presidential Conference
The Presidential Conference was a formal gathering that showcased the art and culture of India to the world. The Conferences
which happened on two different days at the Madras University Centenary Hall and Kamaraj Arangam also gave away awards to
Young Achievers in various fields and also to an individual who has inspired youth – Mr. Gobinath.
The core team working for YBRANT Conference have worked with some reputed corporate organizations in the past and have
combined together to deliver successful events for more than 25,000 Rotaractors over the past decade. Past experience has given
us the confidence that the Conference is an event which will mutually benefit both the event and its supporters through a symbiotic
relationship.
