Abstract
This project offers a solution to the congestion problem in major metropolises. In recent years there
has been a steady and significant increase in congestion, which makes finding parking spots
problematic, increase in traffic on main roads, high pollution etc.
This project offers a unique approach to solving these problems – an electric, folding vehicle that
has a normal car size signature when in driving mode, and has a two-wheel size signature when in
parking mode, all the while providing maximum protection and safety to its occupants.
As part of the global efforts to keep the environment clean, and the rising cost of petroleum we have
chosen to design a “green”, economical, simple and cheap. The vehicle will use a 100% electric
drive and will include a solar system to utilize the suns energy. This will lower ownership costs,
energy costs and will essentially eliminate pollution.
The goal of this project it to design and build a fully functioning prototype that meets the demands
laid out above, while taking passenger safety, structural integrity and manufacturing technologies
into consideration.
The design includes strength calculations, material selection for different parts of the vehicle
(chassis, body, etc.) and engineering design – all to comply with kinematic, geometric and physical
requirements. This project does not include control systems, development of new driving
mechanisms, development of new peripheral systems (brakes, suspension) and electrical systems.
