How to ensure producing good quality PCB
PCB production is one of the most intricate and complicated product in which several
delicate processes are performed and most (if not all) of them affects the quality of the
PCB if not performed properly. Below are some of the details of PCB processes and their
corresponding quality non-conformance prevention methods:
1. Pattern / Design transfer
This is the most difficult and the same time most prone to defects as it is the process with
the most sensitivity to foreign materials such as dust particles. If dust particles adheres to
the masks or in the panels during the process, this could result to short circuit defects if
dust particles comes in contact on the trace space area or open circuit defects if dust
particles comes in contact on the trace area. To prevent dust particles on unwanted areas
during the process, installation of ionizers on the pattern transfer machines and placing
the said machines on a clean room area is a good practice.

2. Pre preg process
Pre preg process is a process wherein an insulation material (typically epoxy glass) is
installed between copper layers to ensure short circuits is prevented. Pre preg is used
when a PCB design consists of multiple layers. When pre preg materials encounter
unwanted scratches, this could create copper migration / plating in between layers thus
creating short circuits. To prevent this from happening, always ensure the machines’
